The name Hinhanhota appears on the Spring Grown Township map in section 5, next to the lands owned by John B Renville and Hannah and Samuel Hopkins. I dont see a listing of this persons name on the Sisseton BIA list with the indian name or the english greyowl. I do see another name Jennie Tateyopasnawin allottment #233 and the notes on her say "daughter of Hinhanrota adopted by Isaac Goodteacher and Louise Tiomanipi. I will call my stepdad and have him give me the allotment number associated with the section 5 Hinhanrota tomorrow and post it.

Tamara; I need some info on a name that I cannot find anywhere, but someone mentioned your name as a wealth of information on the Sisseton Census, I am trying to find a Marpiinapewin, possibly from that area, who had a daughter (Day Woman), married to a Two Crows, with a son, by the name of John Stone, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. bruledude04.

I have asked my sister in law to help me scan images and she is also a great resource for Frenier lines as she had began her research sometime before the lawsuit, when access was better I think. She has offered before to do so and now I am going to take her up on it. We are also going to see what we can do about getting the original 1886 with indian names scanned as well. I am amazed and disappointed that that was not supplied readily to us as it could really help others. does anyone know if it is available anywhere other than by ordering microfilm or "fish"? I understand it is hard to copy and the girl who did the one I saw made great effort to be able to see each name. I really didnt know what my aunt was trying to tell me until I saw it. She doesnt have much time to search so I try to do it for her, but she always seems to be yards ahead of me, in her calm cool collected and quiet way! LOL

I am going to sit down and study the Sisseton Records for a person in my own family and it is no problem to search for the name you have given. As soon as I see anything I will let you know.

Hi Tamara, I do have the land allotment index! I forgot some nice person sent it to me not too long ago.
I also have the 1887 Census and found a Mahpiyawastewin on it as ... #766 Marpiyawastewin Renville District age 43 #767 Makayutewin Dughter age 19
I am getting closer. So this Mahpiyawastewin was born about 1844.

Tamara, none of those names ring a bell with me nor do I recognize them. So I don't think that , that's her. Oh well, I will keep on searching. Marpiinapewin, I guess does not want to be found, like alot of my other relatives. She lived at Crow Creek Agency, where my g.grandfather was conceived, and his father's name was Joseph La Roche. Oh, my g.grandfather's name was Nobbin La Roche. He (Nobbin), had a 1/2 sister named Day Woman who I am also trying to find their mother was Marpiinapewin, but different fathers. Nothing in my g.grandfather's papers stating where anyone came from where their enrolled, etc. Thanks Tamara. bruledude04@yahoo.com

bruledude04, I found a descendancy chart for a Joseph LaRoche at www.rootsweb.com, at their World Connect Project link. Type his name into the search engine. the LaRoches listed at ancestry.com all seem to have lived either in Charles Mix orLyman counties of South Dakota.

Like I mentioned before he had a 1/2 sister named Day Woman, I can't find out their english names. or at least I'd like too, their my close relatives I've been at this since 2002, and still haven't gotten much further. Can anyone PLEASE HELP!!!. Thanks Alot, bruledude04@yahoo.com

marpiinape, at one time lived in Fort Thompson, but don't know where she came from cause her son Nobbin La Roche, at one time lived in Greenwood . She's not enrolled over there cause they know nothing on her,she had a daughter named Day Woman, she at one time was married to Mr. Two Crows, and had a son named John Stone, and a daughter named Pretty Dirt Woman. I am sorry I don't have any dates. Cause I don't know where they were born or where they came from. Day Woman I believe was born about 1859? so my g.g.grandmother had to have been born way before that . Like I said all I have is on my g,grandfather's papers was his mother's name Marpiinapewin and he was born 1856 and died 1927. Sorry I don't have more, but absolutely nothing. Thanks Tamara.
