I will write you when I have some firm plans. I think it would be fun. I would love to see your work in the hands of the sd historical society. We descend from Grey Cloud Woman and if you need anything from us, our side would be more than happy to contribute. think of how nice it will be in the future for the next generations, dont forget to put your name on it so that people know who did it and who to thank, thats important too.

maybe this would be a great place to ask anyone if they have any favorite software. I know that there are free versions out there but family tree maker is my favorite so far. If you havent tried it already. Maybe one of the youngsters in your family would be able to take your information and enter it for you, then it would help them to learn about the family history that is so important to you and make them feel their part in it all.

wapate: I recall reading in Through Dakota Eyes that Good Star Woman's father,, learned the blacksmith trade either at Sisseton where they later relocated, or at Crow Creek(1863-1866), and he changed his name to Blacksmith. could this have been the case with your Stephen Wabashaw? here is what little I have on Joseph Blacksmith name: No.1: his Indian name was Hepi Wakandisapa (Black Lightning). Born Minn. Parents; N/A spouse: Archargowe(sp) parents: N/A children: Dora blacksmith aka Wicanhpiwastewin, born Wabashaw, MN,and two daughters who died young. ___________________________________________ No2: Ref. is 1880 US Census Moody,Dakota Terr.: Joseph Blacksmith Age 45 he and parents bvorn Minn. Agnes Blacksmith-wife Age 48 she and parents born Minn. children: Maka Age 25 born Dakota eunice Age 15 born Dakota George Age 10 born Dakota Julia age 4 born Dakota This is interesting and thanks for it, I can see I have some sorting to do!

wapate: All i have on Thomas Wabashaw is the notes I took from Mary Wabashaw's Heirship papers. I am assuming you already have them, that is why I haven't posted anything from them.

tamara:Whenyou get themsortedout, please let me know, because I didn'tthink they were the same person, that iswhy I have them on separate filecards. I am certain you are correct in that they are not. In fact I know that Wapate or Sherwyn or someone else in the Wabasha line pasted the specifics. I need to dig that up on the board.
