Teenage boy, 1862. Early Map of the Minneapolis area showing Indian paths, Fort Snelling, St. Anthony Falls, Lake Calhoun, Minnehaha Creek, and two Indian villages (circa 1820-1860). Two men are on a ferryboat on the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling in 1867. Tepees on the west bank of the Mississippi River near the John Stevens house, the first modern frame house built in Minneapolis (1850). G.A. Bracket and Pierre Bottineau in 1869 with the exploration party charting the course of the new Northern Pacific Railroad. The group started from Minneapolis. This photograph was taken on their second day out. Notice there are a few Mdewakanton in the center.

Jacob Otherday is my great great great grandfather. I believe John Otherday is his brother.
