Hi Tamara;
I would like a 1862 Census December for Ft. Snelling, also the list of Mar. 17, 1863 of men giving up their wives.
Thank you, it will be appreciated completely!!

Is there a full list anywhere of the men who were imprisoned? The list at Ft. Snelling is mostly women and their families.

I am a writer working on the story of the Battle of Birch Coulie, in which Big Eagle was a principal figure. I am trying to develop a full biography of his life, and wonder if you have any information that would assist me. Or perhaps you can direct me to important leads. My writing credits are available on my Web site, listed below.

Don't know if this makes a difference, but my mother-in-law, Grandma Whitefeather (Mae Kingsby) always stated "I am Dakota, I am Mdwakanton Santee Sioux!" She made sure all six of her kids knew they were Dakota, Mdewakanton Santee Sioux. This was long before the Wolfchild lawsuit. So, since she was born in 1934 (d 2007) she claimed Mdewakanton, that is what the people believed long before this "Loyalist" thing. Just throwing in my $.0.02!
Thanks, Brokenrope's
