Gina,
Here is the connection to the Jesse James story. In 1938 a half breed Santee Sioux by the name of Joseph Chase came forward to the Omaha newspaper and gave the story that he was the son of Jesse James. Joseph Chase was married to Martha Wakuta. Martha's mother was Nancy Stone, Myrick, Wakuta, Wapaha. So your Sarah and Martha were half sisters. There is some information on the net if you google "Joe Jesse Chase". Judy

Vicky, that was awesome! Thank you for the picture of Nancy. Having the images themselves is just an amazing way to connect to my family story. I hope when I get back up to the midwest again I can take you out to lunch or something! You're the best! ;D

Did some more searching today thanks to help from this board and Mdewakanton reference site - my unci had told me that one of her great grandfathers had been hung in Mankato. I was saddened to find the name Cetanhunka, which is the same name as Eugene Hoffman's dad, in the list of the 38. Do you think this is the same person? I am guessing so.
