No I am sorry I wish I did ... I have only been told ..I also called down and spoke with someone in Santee. I called the number that is listed on the Santee Sioux website. He told me the same thing but I dont know who I spoke with. I havent been to Santee since I was little so I am scared to go there now. But since I have started my research I have come across my Grandfather Frank F Jones's BC. It says he was born 1924 and his father Dave Jones was born 1886.

Toni, Go in person to the Ponca Tribal office closest to you. They should have no trouble sorting this out. www.poncatribe-ne.org/office_locations.phpWhen the NE state hist. soc. opens, you will have access to all their marriage licenses for Knox County (these will list parents) as well as all the Ponca censuses. I do not find the censuses anywhere online. In the meantime, send away for all the death certificates you can find for your father's side of the family. These cost about 10 bucks, but they sometimes contain valuabe information such as parent's names and mother's maiden name if you are really lucky. Go to the vital statistics office in the state where they died. You can do this by email. We'll keep digging.

I wonder how many Frank Jones' there were? I found yours in the Santee Register 1902 on page 30. Frank and Lizzie with a son David. There is no maiden name and no paents listed for Lizzie. In the Knox County marriages at rootsweb, there is a Frank Jones who married an Isabelle Losure in 1886. Isabelle Losure= Lizzie Laravie? I would love to see the actual record, as this just may be mis-transcribed. Then in the Santee Mission Register, Book 1 there is- Frank married to Lucy In the Iapi Oaye there is a Frank who married a Nancy from Ponca in 1879. David Jones is listed here, baptized in 1895. There is also a Frank and Alice who had a daughter Lillian, baptized in 1904. Still looking.

toni: I am assuming you have a scanner. Would you please scan this birth certificate you found and post it here?if you don'thave ascanner please post all the information given on it. One of my contacts says your grandpa Frank F. Jones lived or lives at 2218 Terrace Place,Sioux city,IA, and in 2006 your father was living with your grandparents.
You may find your grandspa Frank, and your dad's birth records at the Woodbury County courthouse here in Sioux city, at the County Recorder's office. it would be easierfor you to search forthe records at that office and when you find them, have an official copy made.it will cost $10 for each. then you find out from your mom when and where she married your dad, and contact the county clerk in that county and state for a copy of the marriage record.
You can find this information by typing in (name of County and State) marriage Records toget the contact info and cost for the copy.
If you have not heard frompeacekeeper, check our web site in the Church Records for Santee Register books one, two, and three. Look for the marriage record of David Jones and Esther Campbell. I don't know when they married,so you will have to search all the pages.
When you find the page that has the record listed, print out the page, and then contact the Center Nebraska Courthouse clerk by mail, provide them with the information given for the marriage, and request a copy of the Marriage, along with a check or money order for the cost of the copy.
There is a Ponca Tribal regional office here in Sioux City that you can go to. let your fingersdothe walking through the yellow pages tofind their addressand phonenumber.

i will check my records again, as it seems I ran across Esther Campbell within this past week. ________ rule of thumb: Never call the tribal offices. always write to them and send by registered mail.keep copies of all correspondence with them in your files .
