The name Cadotte I am sure comes from my ex-lady friend of Standing Rock Sioux Tribe...big family there.
Try to post all discrete info from A-Z to the point where you are stuck. Keep in mind some times when you are stuck...this means that there may be a possibility that there was lost documentation. So, post all your info on here from the start so that we could try to trace off of that.

Is she Sisseton-Wahpeton? I found a Mary McLain Demarrias, born 1881 in an Indian Census.

I have a Mary Ortly McLain/ McLean in the following-
1887 Sisseton Wahpeton census- age 17 1887 SW land allotments, #251, age 19 1891 Elrod, age 21
She would have been born c. 1870, so she's not the one you are looking for who was born in 1854. A tribal affiliation would be most helpful here, so folks know where to look. Might there be death records at ancestry.com for her tribe?

earth7w: thanks so much for your help. I found the same people you found, but the other name (catch enemy) didn't match who she told me she was looking for(chase the enemy). She was trying to find out also where this woman was buried. she said that this winyan waste or whatever her name is, was killed by lightning.
