Darkewolfe, Have you checked with the Historical County Museum at McCook. We have a fantastic group at our museum here and they have helped so many people. I know that we have several good museums and county historical sites throughouy the state. We have the volunteers here send pictures, articles, etc. to families prior to coming to whatever county you need. It is worth a try and it may help that they owned a bussiness. I'm going to have one or two evenings free. Wedneday is looking good for me now. It may change but that's possible for a conversation. Let you know if that could wrk for you. later, Roxy ;D

Yes Stephen S. Jones was born on 1879 and was married to Harriet Roulliard Cool, then we are related. Harriet Rouillard was the daughter of John Anpeduta Rouillard and Mary Toiciyewin Wambdisun. Mary was the daughter of Henry Wambdisun and Nancy Wakinyantowin. Henry was the brother of my ancestor, Mary Iciyapewin, who married Francis Trudell. Henry and Mary were the children of Wambdisun Ianyake and Tatekoyakewin. I have a website about the Trudell and Wambdisun families here: trudellgen.proboards52.com/index.cgiHere is the Wambdisun family tree.

Hey Jimmy, I guess we learn something new every day Uh. Your on the other side of the family it looks like, Uh. I'm looking for the family of William Holmes, his mother was Wicanhpiotawin (Many Stars Woman), his father was Marshall F. Holmes. I wish I had my family tree with me now to explain everything. Maybe then you could help me. But for now I'll ask this question. I also have Mahpiyaochawin (Old Cloud Woman), Zitkalatowin (Blue Bird Woman), Itemazawin (Iron Face Woman) who married Joseph Gramham. Can you help, please. I guess we didn't make the list for the Wolf child suite, we couldn't make the connection, paper wise anyway. What luck, thats okay, just wanted to belong.

Do you know if the Iron Face women you mention was ever married to anyone else or had any other children?
I was also wondering if you happen to know if Kahboke's other spouse Hazawastewin was ever married to anyone else?
Thank you for your help.

I have taken photographs at a few Sioux cemeteries, and didn't have a problem. I even took pictures at Wounded Knee, and I was with a couple of local Indians at the time, they didn't see a problem with it. That would be Patrick and maybe Dave? Patrick spent quite a bit of time with me there and I brought him back a stone from Crazy Horse then when I took his photo he held it up to his chest to get it in the photo. I am in Pipestone now and have been in Pine Ridge area about a week or so. I will write more when I can. I took over 1000 photos and have much to share, especially about the necklace!

I'm a new member and I need any information, such as a baptismal record on a Harrison Percy Archambeau born December 26, 1927. He also was known aka: Percy LittleOwl, Percy Archambeau. Had to be Catholic, he is buried at St. Paul's cemetary in Marty, SD.
I need some help and would appreciate anyone that knows if he had a baptismal record.

The "artifact" can now be called a medicine woman's necklace. I found one of my father's cousins who knew of this piece. If the story she told me is true, I was way off base in where it came from and who it belonged to. I met a man in 2006 at Crazy Horsewho told me it was likely a medicine womans. So here goes, for what its worth:
This great aunts husband's father was W. S. Fitch and he was the one who built the trading post. Little did I know but it was a part of this very house I spoke of with the pieces on tables in the upper home. Somewhere in the back was an Indian burial ground. I never was told or saw this in 1965.
Fitch and his wife were the first to marry in Red Willow County, nebraska and ran the trading post. They traded buffalo skins with the Sioux and other tribes in that area. I now have a letter by Fitch telling of these things himself. I will be posting this on my website as soon as I get organized. I am too excited to even type this out.
People such as Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill came often to the trading post to trade goods and buy supplies. Mrs. Fitch actually banned Hickok from the trading post when she heard of him shooting an Indian for no reason.
Now to the necklace: It was told to me that one day before "going west" Buffalo Bill came to the trading post and gave the necklace to W. S. Fitch. Bill told him it had been a gift from Sitting Bull himself. This is too exciting for me to express, and I am so skeptical, yet wish to believe this is so. I have no way to prove it.
I have told many people, I thought it should be in a museum and of course whites (and I am 15/16 white woman and 1/16 Sioux, but 100% Sioux spirit and heart) say yes and wonder how much it is worth. My native brothers and sisters tell me it is in my hands for a reason and I am to find that reason. It has come to my hands through Mr. Fitch, to my grandmother not grandfathers side of the family. NEVER assume family lore.
This necklace is heavy and has sharp implements on it so not comfortable to wear, but when I do I definitely feel surrounded by spirits. I plan on doing some meditation and told my husband it is a MUST to return to Pine Ridge in the spring of 2013. I do not know what I will do after that.
I remain, ~DarkWolfe
