Tara I am sorry for your loss as well. I try hard not to ever say that I "understand" or "know" how one feels when it comes to loss as no ones two situations are the same. I can say however that I still struggle with the loss of my grandfather and it will be two years in november. I was having a hard time after his death even researching or reading all of the things we had collected and when I was approached by people who were researching for this lawsuit, it seemed to force me into picking it all up again and reinstating my love for history, even without him, which was the hard part. I had felt like nothing new mattered since he wasnt there to read it or see it, but instead of having him to share it with, I had his family to give it to. I found it all very very healing and often wonder how my heart could have survived it all, without this element to help it along. Some how looking back, helps the hurts of the present and acknowledging the ancestors can bring strenght and power. I dont know how that happens but others tell me the same. I will be thinking of you and your family, Tara and Tokakte, during this time of loss.
Tamara

Maggie Ehnamani Frazier in our line was John Frazier's wife and Artemis Ehnamani's sister. Artemis Frazier, nee "Ehnamani", took the Frazier name after the removal to Santee, according to his grandson, Phillip Frazier (personal communication). tokakte

Tokate, do you have any information Artemis Ehnamani's parents? I have them listed as Mahpiyasawawin and George Huntkatanka Henry. George's other wife was Mahpiyasawawin's sister Miniyosnasnawin. I have been searching for information on his parents for some time and continue to come up empty handed.
Thank you for your help. Dawn

I have received a replacement copy of Star 's probate...all 23 pages of it. Obviously, it isn't all relevant to the question you have. Much of it is testimony involving his allottment and wrangling over a $300 claim by one of the heirs. There are two sheets that will answer pretty much all of your questions. PM me at my home email address and I'll return a scan of those two pages attached as a jpg. My email address is: rw293@comcast.net. Thanks for you patience.

Dawn just click on below. I'm not sure what the deal is it works for me. I even checked the original message I sent you and it works to. I know it doesn't look like the kind of link you can just click on but it works that way. Later www.firstpeople.us/FP-Html-Wisdom/GeorgeHenry.html

As far as I can tell, Huntkatanka did not have a son George. John Kawinge Henry hd a son named George Henry who had at least 6 wives. His last wife was a white woman, Goldie Dillon, the dau. of John Dillon who lived on the South Bottoms in sioux City,Iowa. George Jr, as we call him, liked the name George because he named two of his sons George: Geroge Benjamin, and Nelson George Henry. Oneof his sons or grandsons, Mark also had a son named George Henry with whom we grew up. He married my fourth grade teacher, Wilhemina Wallasser. He was a very artistic person and had his own printing shop. he died in 1989. I found nothing in the old pre-outbreak records to even suggest that Huntkatanka was a Chippewa. Since we don't know the parents of his two wives, I would question any suggestion that either was a Chippewa, since the Sioux and the Chippewas were longstanding enemies.
Wicibdezawin, one of Huntkatanka's children, according to testimony at Sophia Henry's Probate Hearing, was living in Minnesota on the Chippewa Reservation near St.Paul,MN and the only person who knew her whereabouts was I believe Rev. Albert Frazier.
