I'm not sure, probably Santee. That was where Henry died in 1898, and I believe he had lived there since the 1870s.

Speaking of Wells, does anybody know anything about a woman by the name of Tunkaninapewin, she was allotted 140 acres in Yankton, SD on July 17, 1894 on the Yankton Sioux reservation, I don't know if there is any relation between this lady Tunkaninapewin and the other allottment papers I found, the names on the other three allotment I found are Charles Wells, his were issued on July 17, 1894 also in Yankton, SD, and Jubel Wells also was allotted land on July 17, 1894, and James Wells (Kanawankina) and his was issued Nov 11, 1890 in Yankton, SD. And we have another one for Charles Wells dated Nov 11, 1890 in Yankton, SD. I found this paperwork among my GGrandfather Jacob Abraham (Oyesna). Does anyone out there know any of these people? We have the actual allottment papers stamped by Grover Cleveland, and President Harrison.

There is a list of search engines on page 14 ON Help not on the 1886 census - it has 20 differant search engines to use .. When you search start by using only the name if that brings up nothing, then chance like this 1. Tunkaninapewin then if nothing comes up go like this 2. Tunkaninapewin sioux indian - then if nothing comes up change like this 3. Tunkaninapewin Dakota indian or Father of Tunkaninapewin - well I think you see what I am saying it works alot of the time. Good hunting

Re. the missing probate on Henry Wamnbdisun, the lawer Horn took the record, and who know what others from the BIA Office in Winnebago , according to my sources. My sources also tell me that Kettering's also done the same stunt, taking records from the BIA Office. I WOi wouldn't put it past Buttes and Kaardal to have done the same thing.Look what they did in re. to the records at Augustanna College.

Are there two probates on Henry Wambdisun floating around? I talked to one of the Trudell descendants several days ago and he told me that their copyof Henry's probate does not say show that Anna Wells was his mother, nor does it say who his father was. This descendant said he would send me a copy of Henry Wambdisun's probate. I have not recieved anything from him at this time. I won't hold my breath, waiting for it.

another question that arises is what was this Anna Well's maiden name? She apparently was a full blood, because she didn't recieve any land allotments, that I know of, that were given to the mixed bloods.

I have her parents as Ptawakamnagin aka Sacred Standing Buffalo and Tateahnahiyayewin. Anna Hunka Siyaka's probate data is in the Archives section of our web site. Out of curiosity, what names do you have for her parents?
