I am trying to find the address/phone number for the BIA office in Nebraska. All I can come up with is the one in Aberdeen, SD, but I have heard too many bad stories about working through them. I have heard that there is a BIA office in Nebraska, but I can't find any information about it. Can anybody help?

Jimmy, Please let us know if you have any success with Winnebago. They have been virtually shut down for a couple of years. I wish you luck!! Keep us posted!

No problem. I recently talked to a relative, she said she went through a BIA office in Nebraska (I don't know which one), but she said they were very helpful, and she was able to get all the probates she wanted with no problem.

I have been trying to get into Winnebago for the last 4 weeks. They will not let me in. They said I can send a written request along with a family tree that proves that that person is in our family. I sent a written request to them two weeks ago no response yet.
If anyone is able to get in please let me know.
Thanks
Dawn

It has been over two months since I requested information from the Nebraska BIA for probates, which I have the numbers for. I had to fill out a form and was told there were probably 50 people ahead of me and they would notify me. Maybe too much paperwork for two few people or too many coffeebreaks. LOL I will wait because someday they will contact me, right?

the BIA office at Winebago stopped allowing people to even look at the records in the spring of last year. I have heard horror stories about the office at winnebago too. I know of one person I was helping, whom I referred to the albuequerque ,NM Office to tell them about the lack of assistance at Aberdeen and at winnebago. the people were very helpful, she said, and they put "the fear of God" on both the Aberdeen and Winnebgo personel, and she got the records she needed. You can always cotact te NaRA in Washington DC by letter. I think they charge 75 cents per page .
