Hello Jimmy, I will assume you know what a "dit" name was, if not just ask. I have done extensive work in Quebec and its early settlers, as my families were among them in the late 1500s. I have many files and books on the areas. Fortunately the Canadians were careful about baptism, marriage and death records and you can read them today, in their original hand. There were both Perron and Trudel/Trudell/Trudelle settlers in Quebec. If you find Francois' parents, please let me know. There were several marriages in the 1795 time period, so I may have them already without knowing. I looked for a Perron-Trudell marriage, hoping for some good luck, but found none. Good hunting, and if you know anyone searching in Quebec send them my way. I am glad to assist. I remain, DarkWolfe

Thank you for looking for me. So far, I have no idea who his parents were. I don't even know where in Quebec he was born. There is a researcher in Quebec named Marc Trudel, he is researching the Trudell family in Canada. He has been trying to connect our Trudells to his in Canada, but have been unsuccessful so far. Yes, the "dit" name confused me for a while until I figured it out. Here is a link to the meaning of the "dit" name for anyone who needs it ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/lwjones/dit.htm It looks like my family usually went by Perron or Perron dit Trudell in the early records, but by 1860 or so they only went be Trudell, and dropped the rest.
