5th Annual Great Dakota Gathering and Homecoming Celebrating Unity Park during June 7th and 8th, 2008 East Lake Winona, Winona, Minnesota (right off U.S. 61 / U.S. 14 at Huff St.)Future Hereditary Chief Leonard WabashaSource: www.dakotahomecoming.org The event is named the "Great Dakota Gathering and Homecoming" or OTAKUYE HDIHUNIPI, meaning "All Relatives Have Come Home." It's a reconciliation and homecoming event, organized by The Winona Dakota Unity Alliance to educate and pay tribute to the area's pre-European history and to honor elders and descendants across the Dakota Nation. The gathering is intended to represent a spirit of Mitakuye Owasin, meaning "We are all Related."
