Here is a site that I found that might just be of some help, www.indianlandtenure.org be sure to click on the "About" and "Staff" links the staff has listed their emails so we can contact them, they just might have some info connected with land documents, some of them might even be our Tahansi's, There is another site that may give you some legal advise too, www.indianwills.org I just wanted to share this because it looked to me, to be very important for all of us on the Rez, Enjoy! wapate

(MAYBE SOME HELP HERE)
I am new to this board and maybe this is the post I can ask this question. The question is, "How do you guys and gals do that?". Do what you say what I mean is how do you experienced boarders write and find information all the while talking to each other on the board. I do not understand that. Is it my inexperience in being able to keep up with you all when you get on that board chatting.
Hopefully there is someone out there in the board that can explain that to me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with my inexperience here but I want to hang in there too.
Out of the groove. Please help.
Today is January 18, 2007 at 4:26 p.m.
Thank you.

Well, in my case it is achieved only by a complete and total neglect of household, add a very large Schwans bill, and a heavy caffiene intake! Tamara don't forget maintianing complete control of the Remote. haha Hermin1

Well some of us have been searching for info as long as 2+ years. We have learned that the secret of knowledge is the more you share, the more people share with you. We have also learned that many of our people and people who aren't even Native American care deeply about our people. They go above and beyond to help each member find the answers to what they seek. We all have different information that we have found through research; some orally, some through museums, books, census', family history, and many other resources; that is what makes this website so great!!!!!!!! So you keep checking in with questions and we will do the best we can. If you have info that will help others we welcome your knowledge to this website. You can ask any question here, from where to find a certain set of baptisms, to how to find a certain grave marker. Just ask and we will be here for one and all. If we can't we will let you know.
WELCOME!!!!!
Jackie

exactly. but when you are searching this info you have to have an idea that you have most of what you need but there is something out there that will conclude your work for sure. don't be consumed with a bunch of history readings, yes they are very interesting, but gather the documentation that will get you over the hump.

WELCOME!!!!! Jackie PEACEKEEPER: Thank you for your encouraging words. Our family has done extensive research and have a wealth of documentation. My problem is until just recently getting more familiar with a computer and its mechanics. When I worked in the federal sector we had computers but I did not operate them at the level you can all maneuver with. I am just getting the feel of things. Simple items such as having E-Mail outgoing reject consistently are troubling and annoying. Again thank you for your support and we will share information if our family has not done that already. “Do what you say what I mean is how do you experienced boarders write and find information all the while talking to each other on the board.”
Your most important information source starts with you. Simply put, who are your parents? Then who were their parents, and so on. When you reach this board you place the names and dates of the person you are interested in on the board. (Jamie will make sure you are in the right thread.) The date you enter your request will be in bold and the OYATE will read it and provide an answer or ask questions for clarification. Hermin1 and Peacekeeper, are reliable sources. Sometimes your post will attract the attention of one of your relatives who may have the information you seek.
I am always happy to supply what information I have and I read the OYATE at least 3X a day.
Welcome to our Family. I am Curtis Michael Kitto (Mazadidi) of the Mdewakanton Santee Sioux Nation.

Wanbligi,
what i find the easiest is to open additional screens. often times when i am signed on, i maybe searching around somewhere else, or typing up some documents to cut and paste on the website. the best thing to do is bookmark this site and several other most frequented sites and maneuver around the web. it takes practice but the more you become familiar with your computer and the internet things do get easier. many of us have invested alot into being able to share information. Purchasing extras such as scanners, faxes, highspeed internet, and so forth. i believe every member here at Oyate Exchange has had a beautiful experience. as the staff of the Exchange we hope to make you search a better and more enjoyable process in rediscovering your ancestry. i hope you continue to utilize our site.

Wambligigi: My older sister was in similar shoes. She worked for a rendering firm and theway she explained it, they had a set programthat they worked in on their computers. Now that she hasretired, Iand my sister are helping her with the basics in operating her computer at home.
I knew nothing back in 1997, when my bro the computer Engineer for North american Rockwell built me, my first computer, Hermin1(its name).. He sent me a lotof books, and started me out with Windows 3.11 which taught me the basics from which all the other windows program since developed, stem from. I also learned from a book called Widnows 98 for dummies. He has since built me another computer which I call Hermin2 which has a biigger hard drive some neat program he thought zI could use9 and I do use them)and a CD Burner. One thing he told me and I believe itis true: He said "you have to give your computer a name for good luck". My sis named hers PITA (Pain In The A__). ha haha

To: All The Board Members:
Thank you all for being so positive to new board members. It is greatly appreciated. As we learn, share and encourage each other in the times we've had it is great to know that there are such intelligent and understanding members in this board that are there for us all. Thanks again.
