We need more than just names. We need some vital data on the parents , and the children if possible.

oops, sorry for being so brief, heres a more descriptive narrative. Eli Mato, DOD:1899, Yankton Sioux, he married Annie Deloria, DOB: May 1845, DOD: Aug. 30, 1900, Yankton Sioux. Anna Deloria's parents were Frank Deloria and Mary S. Deloria, Mary S. Deloria's Indian name is "Blackfoot woman", spelled Sihasopewin I think, its hard to read. Mary S. Deloria was born 1827 & her date of death Sept 17, 1899. Mary S. Deloria, cant find her maiden name, but I think thats what the S stands for her Indian name. Her children: Anna Deloria married Eli Mato Alice Deloria married Asher Packard Sarah Deloria married Luke RedBird alias Wakancekiya Carrie Deloria married Chauncey Wanikiya alias Ziwin Philip J. Deloria, dont know who he married Euprasia Deloria married a Bubuna also a unknown boy
Also Mary S. Deloria has a sister named "Anpetukicagapiwin" means Growing Day. Mary S. Deloria and Growing Days parents are Huetewin, and her father Siconson. Dont know the meaning to these two names. In addition to that Siconson had a brother that died, and left two sons: Bear Paw & Black Plume. When Mary S. Deloria died, she had a grandson named George Blackowl. But any info would be appreciated.

I can direct you on where you might find the information you need. Plug in eli Mato's name, DOB, South Dakota, DOD ,and south Dakota at Ancestry.com and see what you come up with. Then do the same for annie Deloria. this should bring up censuses which list her family, and their ages. Using the ages, plug their names into the search engine and for DOD use 19**, and South Dakota for the place of death. Your other source of information is the Ynkton agency Indian censuses. I am surprised you didn't go to their tribal office and ask for theirPprobate(Heirship ) Papers. My informants tell me that the Aberdeen BIA is so bogged down with requests that they ave closed down their office temporarily. then go to the Baptismal secitonof our web site and find the link to the online Baptismal,Marriage Registers and look through them to see if you can find what you need for documentation. If Ancestry shows you a copyof marriage records, then you shoudl print them off and get official copy from the county where the perople were married.

I found a very informative website that will give you some of the information you seek re the Delorias: mcmillanlodge141.org/Indian.htmI had very poor results at ancestry.com trying to find the people you mentioned. but I did have some good results re. Frank Deloria, Sara Deloria, and Philip Deloria at : www.familysearch .org (the LatterDay Saints Archives Web site). You just need to register and give yourself a user name and a password. this is a free web site. They recently instituted the Username and password to prevent raiding by Hackers. Once you have registered, you canaccess their web site anytime . Just type in your username and password. the S in Mary's name is spelled Sihasapewin. You were close in her name. I am sorry I don't know the translations for Mary S.'s and her sister's parents names.

ywesit was very very impressive. It has historical importance as well. I believe thereason I couldn't find anything on Eli Mato was because he died before 1900. but I do know that you shouldbe able to find him on the Ynakton Agency Censuses. first Nations Outreach Center here in Sioux city has the Yankton Censuses from 1885 up to1911. their phone number is 712-252-5902. Ask for Edith Casaday and make arrangements with her to look for Eli Mato in those censuses for you , if you want. here is a web site you could check out to see if they have the uS censuses for Chas Mix County up to 1930: www.us-census.org/

Im wondering what i do know, i did make the connection to frank deloria he married a daughter of chief Bear Foot, Black Foot Woman and was wondering where did they migrate from. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks I searched in vain for some information on this Chief Bear Foot and came up empty handed. I am thinking that the South Dakota Historical( or Genealogical) Society may be able to help you. The Mormons also may have reords. hermin1
