Thirty-five voters comprised what is now the city of Wabasha and probably Reeds and the prairie extending down river as far as the Zumbro river. This was about the first election that was held in this vicinity. Of this list of voters there is not one of them left, all have been called to their final home, but there are a number of old settlers that remember them, and there is a goodly number of their children that are living, some still residing here and others have moved away.
We are indebted to Samuel Hirschy for this list he having kept and it is well preserved, being very plainly written on an excellent quality paper.
We are unable to publish the list of officers that were elected at that election, no one that we could find being able to furnish us with the name, as it is before their recollections.
