The editorial committee of Il Sole 24 Ore asks the Director Fabio Tamburini to suspend the collaboration of Marcello Minenna, arrested on 22 June for corruption in an investigation by the Forlì prosecutor's office. The same request was made to the Director in 2021. Unheeded. This time Tamburini has announced that the column will be suspended. He did so with a letter to the Dagospia website , which first published the news: “Dear Dago, let me say, commenting on Pope Francis - writes Tamburini - who am I to judge? I only remember that the elite of the institutions and the judiciary listened and applauded the considerations that Dr. Minenna made during his annual reports. As far as I'm concerned, his column was always full of ideas that favored the economic debate. I will await the developments of the investigation, hoping, as a convinced guarantor, that Dr.
Minenna can clarify his position". LINE OF CAUTION The Cdr published this DY Leads statement in the newspaper of 23 June: "In November 2021 we wrote this in an email to the management which remained without results: 'Hello director, as you will have read, from the news of these hours it appears that our collaborator, Marcello Minenna is currently investigated by the Rome prosecutor's office for abuse of office. In similar cases, even in the recent past, we have always adopted a line of prudence, to protect the credibility of our newspaper: we believe that this time too it would be appropriate to follow it. We therefore ask you to consider suspending Minenna's collaboration, waiting for the matter to be clarified.
Yesterday Marcello Minenna was arrested as part of an investigation by the Forlì prosecutor's office. The crime charged is corruption. We sincerely hope to Marcello Minenna, who has continued his collaboration with Il Sole 24 Ore in recent years (four days ago an article by him was featured on the front page as always), we sincerely hope to clarify his position as soon as possible. REPUTATION OF THE NEWSPAPER We ask the director again, this time publicly, to suspend the collaboration. In fact, at issue is not an attitude towards justice policies and individual investigations that we continue to interpret as guaranteeing, but rather the reputation of the newspaper and the entire editorial team. A topic that should be all the more important to a company that has for some time called journalists, however completely improperly, to respect the moral and material interests of society".
