I'm Carl Leith..the guy the administers to the Dakota Kinship FB Group
looking for more families that would connect to the Halfbreed Tract in Minnesota been working with the Mendota Council researching connections to the Halfbreed Tract most of them can prove descent from a specific Dakota Chiefs..those who had signed the various Ttreaties Little Crow III(Cetanwakanmani), Little Crow IV-(Wakinyantanka) Wahkute Wabasha Husasa-these relatives for the most part are at LSIC
the Halfbreed Tract-Royce 292 is located below Redwing Mn, along the westside of Lake Pepin this was established by the 1837 Treaty of Prairie du Chien the HalfBreeds traded their tribal allotments for allotments in the public domain the legal instrument used for this were called Sioux Scrip Land Patents these scripts can be applied anywhere, where land was available in Mn a little more 2000 Land patents were purchased using these scripts I have plotted all those in MN..there are more outside the state, but I was just interested in those still within the Royce 289 area..this area was the only time the Mdewakanton/Wahpakute made a territorial claim
I have a copy of Roll M550 with affidavits from the Halfbreed Tract "every man, woman, and child received "not more than 640 acres, and not less then 40 acres"
if you want a copy let me know on fb-Dakota Kinship i'll add you to my dropbox
