The notes also include the names of their first children: Thomas Quinn = Inganganheca Jennie Quinn (Skymann) = Totwin Solomon Quinn (son) = Hepan Pheobe Quinn (dau) = Iasnawin (This might have been horribly mis-spelled, by me) Charly (Charley) (son) = Waskeroancea (again, sorry for the horrific transposition) Thomas G (son) = Wakaniwanyake (cursive is really hard) Lusia (Luisa/Lucy)(dau)= Wakanayannowin (  ) Joseph (son) = Wowacinye (??) Not shown are two children, one born about 1902 and the other about 1904 Also listed, for those curious are last names: Williams, Willson, Renvelle, Hoggan, Prame (?) and Smith

rhi, here's what I have on jennie and on Thomas Quinn;
jennie's parents were moses Skyman and Sarah Waduta huyankewin.
Sarah's parents were Yajopis and Oyedutawin.rhi please excuse my mistake in the message I sent tyou yesterday.jenniee's grandparents were on her mother's side.
Moses's parents were Cloudman and unknown female.
Moses was married before he wed Sarah,to Tokiyewin, whom he wed before 1862. They were divorce in 1862. they had a daughter, Mary Napewastewin.
Moses's second wife was Sarah. with Sarah he had
1. Jenny Totowin. jennie died in 1901. She was wed twice, first to Thomas Quinn, then to ? Goodvoice.
2. Elijah Skyman. he died in 1901.
3. Amos or Amassa or Amanasah Skyman.
Sarah Waduta yuhankewin was first wed to Wayakanaga who died bef. 1862. they had Tateyuhewin and Thomas Blacksmith.
Sarah's second spouse was Wakandisica and they had Candeskatowin. Moses was her third spouse.
Thomas Quinn was the son of Siyowin(prairie Chicken) and Peter Quinn, the Sioux Interpreter.peter was irish. After peter died, she wed Jacob Eastman.

rhi: etta hd a middle name - Alvina. she wed Roy Finley Johnson at Waubay,Day,Sd on 19 Jube 1937. the certificate is #192003, Reg. NO. 4285.they were wed by a county Judge.
I am sorry I can't find any more as the censuses only go to 1940.

good work, rhi. I did not know who her first hubby was so I wasn't able to find her and his marriage record. I did have that she wed ? Goodvoice(Ahotonna), but my source didn't give his first name. if you will go to www.accessgenealogy.com and click the Native American link on the home page you will find almost complete censuses for the Sisseton-Wahpetons in their Free indian Census .... I will update my files also on Jennie and her family. |
