Roubideaux; The Roubideauxs of Rosebud descend from either of Louis Roubideaux or Charles Roubidoux, the 2 sons of Joseph Sellico Roubideaux.Joseph Sellico was the son of Francois Roubideaux. joseph was bapt. on mar. 6 1817, at St.Louis,MO. He was the blacksmith at Fort Laramie and went by the name Louis Roubideaux or Joseph Sellico. Joseph Sellico' rubideauz's spouses were Clarese Deslisle and Eagle Bull Widow. Louis, joseph Sellico's brother, left his Indian wife and migrated to California, where he later died.
Charles Ruobideaux was baptized at St. Francis Mission on 2 march, 1902. he gave his birth date as 4 July, 1855 and his parents's names as Sellico and "Mary". Charles also went by Charlie William R and his oubideaux His wife was Maggie Robinson. Charles and Maggie had at least 5 sons Christopher b. Oct. 1881, Felix b. Nov. 1893, son Leon, b. 1894, son Charles b. June 1896, son Paul b. 1900 at Rosebud Indian Reservation. _____________________________________________________________________ Update; Charlie and Maggie also had a son William born @1893, a son Joe b. @1889,daughter Delphine b. 1884, nd a daughter Ellen b. 1894. Your Gr.Gr Grandfather, then, was Charlie William, and gr.gr.grandmother was Maggie Robinson. Charlie William's father-your gr.gr.gr.grandfather-was Joseph Sellico Roubideaux, mother-Mary Tasinasapawin(black shawl woman)or black bull widow. Thus you descend from Francois Rubideaux, one of the sons of Joseph Roubidoux(III), the founder of St. Joseph,Missouri.
your gr. Grandfather was William or William Charles Roubideaux born 25 May 1892, and died 21 Apr. 1956 in South Dakota.. I found him at the age of 8 yrs., attending the St. Francis,SD Indian School(1900 US Census, Rosebud,SD). William registered for the WWI Draft on June 15,1919 at Rosebud,Todd County,SD.he listed his occupation as carpenter, working for Brother Andrew Hatman(I think he was referring to one of the catholic priests at St. Francis).Nearest relation was listed as wife and child 2 yrs old, and child 9 mos old. 1920 us Census listed William with wife Anna ida(Giroux) age 22 yrs and sons Hubert Chester age 5, Charley Laverne age 3, and William Everett age 7. Anna Ida's parents were George Giroux and Emma(or Emily) Crazy Bear. They were Yankton Sioux. The 1930 US Census for Lead, Lawrence, SD, lists William with Wife Carrie 25 yrs old, Laverne age 13, Everett age 11, Robert age 9, daughter Wanda age )(baby or newborn), and the two step-daughters Irene age 20, and Lucille age 6, and a niece Geneva age 20yrs old, born in NE. The 1940 US Census for Huron SD lists William with wife Carrie Roubideaux step-daughters Irene, and Lucille Presko and a son William. At. The age of 61 yrs, William Roubideaux wed Eva Krause, age 42, born 1910. They wed on Oct. 4, 1952.
Charlie Laverne was born in 1916,Rosebud ,SD. he died in 1996 at Rosebud, SD. His spouse Isabell Laura Prue-Reynolds B. 23 July 1900 Wood, SD and died 22 Des. 2007 at age 87 at Wagner,SD. Her parents were David Prue, and Ella Prue. either she or Anna Ida were Charlie Lavern's mother. I was unable to find a birth or baptismal record for Charlie Laverne. Isabell was married first to Gary Wilson Reynolds.
The patriarch of the Western, Rosebud,Ioway,Ponca, and Oto Roubideaux branches was Andre Robidoux(Roubidoux or Roubideaux)aka L'Espaniole.Andre Rubideaux or Rudidoux, aka Le Spaniole(translation-the Spaniard) was born in Spain to Manuel Rubidoux and Catherine Alue. Andre married Jeanne (LaDuc) Denot (b. in France). She was one of the Filles de Roi that were sent to Canada by the order of the French king to marry one of the French men living in Canada. They were wed on 7 june , 1767 in Quebec. Quebec.Canada. Their children were Guillaume, and Joseph I born 1679. joseph I wed to Marie Anne Fontenau. Joseph and Marie Ann had Joseph II who wed Marie Anne leBlanc on Feb. 3 1749. Joseph the II is the one who platted out the town of St. Louis ,named after his patron Saint. Joseph II and Marie Anne had Joseph III who wed Catherine Rolletn 21 Sept. 1782 in St. Louis, Mo. they had 6 sons-JosephIV, Michel, Antoine, Francois(father of joseph Sellico-aka louis-and louis),and 2 other sons(N/A. Joseph IV first wed Eugenie Deslisle daughter of jean Baptiste and Cecelia LaRose). Eugenie died in 1801 after childbirth. The twins were a girl who died at birth, and a son Joseph Eugene Rubideaux( aka Indian Joe as he was called) who later became a Trader himself. His father Joseph IV founded the city of St. Joseph, MO. joseph IV remarried Angelique Vaudry on 13 Aug. 1814 in St. louis , MO. The children of Joseph IV and Angelique were Faroan, the twins Julius and Messinie(she died at birth),Francis, Felix, Edmond, Charles(was killed in 1857)and daughter Sylvania. Hope this helps you.
