I'm looking for more information on Red Thunder from Fort Peck area.
I'm a relation of the family and he is Pabaksa, also he has many relatives located in Standing Rock, Sissiton, Crow Creek, and many other reservations. My great, great grandpa Andrew Red Thunder was one of his son's located here on Fort Peck, and the Red Thunder I speak of traveled with Sitting Bull, that's how some of the Red Thunder Family ended up here.

You might try the googling Fort peck Indian Censuses and see what you get.
also try familysearch.org and plug in his name , fort Peckand state it is in and dates 1880 -.
Or if you cn access it, ancestry .com usIndian Census Schedules 1885 -1940.1940

Ruth Fire's Step-Mother was Louise High Bear. I helped take care of her when she was in her 80's. I was about 16 when Ma and Pa (Alfred and Della) Lytle, me and Gramma Fire went to the Devils Tower on vacation in 1980. She had a cane, but she walked up to the Tower and around on the path. I was the one taking these photos. She was always fun to be around, with a great sense of humor. She had the odd distinction of being the richest person in Ft. Thompson/Crow Creek. According to Ma, She got money from uranium being on her land. I don't know if its true. Pa always farmed her land across from the Trading Post/Post Office/Gingways Store in the 70's and 80's..She does have a road named after her in Ft Thompson-Ruth Fire Road. Here are a couple of pictures I have of her. She's the cute one on the right. The lady on the left, I believe, is a catholic sister that spent the end of her life with Gramma Ruth(I think they are buried together.)(? name) in the Middle ?...I used to know all these ladies....getting old.   |
