Hello,
can anyone help me with the names further back for my Mdewakanton Ancestors . Like What is Maggie Moran's Mom real name an who her dad is.. is it Big Thunder? and is he brother to Little crow? I been trying to research this but Mystic Lake wont let anyone see their records. esp,once they hear who the family is that I'm looking for. My Daddy died when i was two and My grandpa Edwin wouldn't talk about his Mom side of the family. so not sure what happened with the family and the Rez. never knew he was native till we looked into it and he still wouldn't talk about it. pretty much anyone in my Dad's family who would know anything have passed away so we are stuck. Are we part of this lawsuit that the Cermak's have against Mystic Lake?

maggie Moran's mother's English name would be the English translation of her Indian name: skaya.
all I have been able to find is that chief Big Thunder/Cetanwakanmani ,was her mother's father.her mother's brother was Little Crow/ Taoyateduta.

If this is the first you have heard of the lawsuit,it would appear that you are not,because the deadline for filing to join the lawsuit as an intervenor elapsed some time ago. you had to have proof with documentation,that youwere a direct lineal descendent of one of those sioux Indians aka Mdewakantons of Minnesota.

Here is what I know about my family. 1st of all Stanley Cermak is my grandmother's brother and the one with the law suit trying to get back my ggpa's land after he died in 1989.
My Mdewakanton blood line is as follows: My grandmother is Lorraine Cermak (Roland Snell)-John Edward Cemak (Emma Kohout)- Margaret Moran (Henry Cermak)- Marie-Angelic Skaya (Amable Moran). That's as far back as I have found.
