I am looking for information on two different people in my family tree. I am very curious where the French line meets with the Native line.
First, I am looking for information on Abraham LeDoux (various spellings such as LaDoe, LaDeaux, LaDue, Ledoux, etc.) b. abt 1805 but I have no source for that other than one census. Abraham was married twice in St. Louis, MO...first marriage in 1839 to Susanne Marly to which a son, Joseph Abraham LeDoux was born in 1842. Joseph is who I am a decendant of. I know they moved north and eventually were near the Rosebud.
Joseph LeDoux from above married Amelia Douville in Nebraska. Amelia's parents were Finnie (Freeman or Freemont) Douville and Julia Pineau (Pinno, Peno, etc.). I am looking for info on either of Amelia's parents but mostly interested in Julia's line right now.
Julia Pineau was born in 1818 in Rulo, Richardson, NE. I have seen her and her children listed on land allotments on a Nemaha list a long time ago but haven't been able to find that list again. I believe Julia is where the key to finding where our Native heritage meets the French line. Julia and Finnie also had other children besides Amelia....Meddor, Felicte (spelling?), and others.
I would be most grateful for any information at all that anyone could share with me. Even if it is just a push in the right direction of where to look for info. I have an Ancestry membership but cannot find anything more on them than what I shared here.
Thank you so much! Jenn

Thank you all very much with the info. hermin1, the Douville info helps A LOT! I had found the Joseph Firmin Douville before but dismissed it because of the Joseph part. I should have stuck with my gut and followed that lead.
The Josephine part is confusing...Joseph LaDue and Amelia Douville had a daughter, Josephine who married James Henry Emery. Josephine and James Henry also had a daughter named Josephine who married Thomas Hale. The younger Josephine and Thomas are my grandmother's parents.
The Julia Pino (Pineau, etc.) is the line I am the most curious about at this time but can find the least about. Thank you for the links. I am running to lots of school events with the children today but tomorrow I plan on spending some time on this.
THANK YOU all so much!!! =) Jenn

Okay, hermin1, I am finally sitting down to work on this tonight and am a bit confused.
In your first reply on this thread...who is Anne? You mentioned "Anne's parents:Juachim Tesier and marie-Vitoire-margauerite Vallee." I am guessing you meant Agathe's parents.
Also, when you mentioned Joseph Firmin you have his birth as "Joeph Firmin douville b.@1842-1849" but that can't be because he would have to have been born well before his own children. Later it says he was shown being born about 1815...that is a huge difference between 1840's.
Lastly, this line confused me as to who it is referring to..."Eusabe marie died 1860His spouse was Marie Aurelia Rcard. they wed 30 Jul/ 1850 St.Casimer de Portrame, uebec,an."
I am really not trying to be difficult, I am just not sure how to put all this together. Thank you so much for all of the time and effort you put into helping me with my search for my family history. =)

jenabr: I apologize for the goofs in my reply to you. I meant Agathe not anna when i gave her parent's names. i am now abit puzzled myself. Because when i checked out Joseph firmin douville in the Canadian Archives, I found that he could not have Been the one in Nebraska , married to Julia. The canadian records have him married to a Granbois woman. they did have a son Joseph, among their children, but theit children were born later than the ones listed on that 1860 Census for Nebraska, and later than the Firmin Douville in the 1860 US Census.
Firmin Douville in that Census was 45 yrs old. so his estimated birth year would have been @1815.
re. Eusebe, He wasJoseph Firmin's brother. and married that Ricard woman. i can't even find my reference for the information on firmin Douville that I have in my index files. Drats!!!!!I should have written the reference on his file but didn't. I am truly sorry for the goofup. all we know is

what i did find is that a mr. Barada for whom the Darada pct. in Richardson County was named wrote that Firmin douville was there before he himself settled there in 1856.all this tells us is that Firmin was there before 1856. So his family history starts with him.

hermin1, thank you so much. I came to the same conclusions about the Joseph Firmin. I tried to make it fit but it just isn't the same person. I think I will just have to accept that Finnie Douville is where that line begins. My dad keeps promising to call one of his aunts (whom I haven't met since I was about three years old) but so far, he hasn't called her.
No need to apologize for the mix ups. I am just so grateful for the help. I think I am going to continue to focus on Julia P. I actually got much further with this side in the past few months than I have in the past few years. I will keep Abraham Ledoux on the back burner but won't get to upset if that is as far as I can get. I actually got pretty far on his first wife's line, Susanna Marly...mother of Joseph and Agustus.
Hope you have a wonderful day. And again, many thanks for your help and for the time and effort you put into digging around for me. =)

jenn why don't you call your dad's aunt. I'll bet she would be glad to hear from you. I know when I found my mother's cousins in Greece after 20 years(my mom had died, and the relatives figured we had all died), they literally cried, and so did I and my siblings when they talked to them on the phone for the first time. My mom talked about them, and we would read their letters to her(in Greek), and write letters to them for her..
