I am seeking information as to who were the parents of the twins,John and Henry Keeler, of charles Mix,South Dakota. I have seen the story re. Adolph keelear and his brother who jumped ship and entered the US illegally.Adolph chnged his last name toKeeler, his brother settled with a tribe in wyoming. however, the 1920 US Census for Charles Mix County, has Henry Keeler listed as born SD, father born New York, mother born South Dakota. i appreciate any information provided re. who their parents were,as it would appear that their parents were not Adolph keeler and whomever he married.

Have you tried a different spelling, like Kealear? I have come across an Alex Kealear b.1843 in Pennsylvania who was a carpenter in Charles Mix County. His wife was Sarah born Nov 1848 and she was Yankton Sioux. In the 1900 census the couple had a daughter, Minnie b.1886 living in their household. Later she became Minnie Hopkins. The 1900 census lists Henry and John Keeler as having a father born in Pennsylvania.

A hearty welcome to ourwebsite jeanquilts, and thank you so much for the information. I did try Kelear spelling and was able to find the descendents of the brother that settled in Wyoming with a Sioux tribe.
