Mark Diedrich in his book "The Chiefs Wapahasha - Three Generations of Dakota Leadership - 1740-1876," on page 30 in the Wapahasha II chapter, writes, "He had several brothers, one who was killed by Wahpekute Dakotas, and Daylight (Anpetuwakee)." The next sentence identifies his sisters by their married names. And the third sentence mentions Augustin Rocque followed by footnote 42 for the entire paragraph.
Footnote 42 contains three references, two can be determined specifically for the daughter Mahpeyahotawin (Gray Cloud Woman) and the third one is hard to tell who it's for:
Page 289 in "Joseph R. Brown Adventurer On the Minnesota Frontier 1820-1849", by Goodman & Goodman.
I'm hoping that page is about the brother "who was killed by Wahpekute Dakotas." I am curious to know if he was killed very young or if he had a family.
If anyone reading this post has the Joseph R. Brown book and would do a lookup of page 289 to see if there is any mention of the brother "who was killed by Wahpekute Dakotas," I would appreciate it very much.
Thank you.

Received a very quick answer overnight via eMail that included a photocopy of page 289. The page does not mention one word of Wapasha II siblings (Wapasha I's children). The page is about Brown's first wife, Helen Dickson.
There is, however, one sentence on that page that is of interest for a supposed daughter of Wapasha I, Pelagie, who married Augustin Ange:
"The youngest was Mary (born 1814) who married Henry Ange, a grandson of Wabasha, and had a large family."

madrock, pelagie was adaughter of Wabasha, and she did marry Henry Aunge/Anger. You need to remember that there was alot of intermarriage(inbreeding) amongst the Wabasha band. leArc or Itazipi, nephew of Wabasha I married Wabashaw II's daughter Hazawastewin, who was his second cousin.

madrock, pelagie was adaughter of Wabasha, and she did marry Henry Aunge/Anger. I don't know that for a fact. I suspect it to be true. That's why I am trying to document the "union" on Pelagie's webpage on The Wapasha Dynasty website. So far I have gathered this: 1. Prairie du Chien baptismal records show 15 year old daughters, Pelagie & Josephine Anger, being the children of Augustin Anger and Pelagie, a sioux woman. 2. A quote from "The British Regime Era" states about 1781, Augustin Ange married a relative of Wabasha and his descendants live in the Northwest among the modern Sioux. 3. A sentence from a biography on Helen Dickson in "Joseph R. Brown Adventurer On the Minnesota Frontier 1820-1849", in telling of her siblings, states "The youngest was Mary (born 1814) who married Henry Ange, a grandson of Wabasha, and had a large family." I'm getting there, little by little!

According to this site: users.usinternet.com/dfnels/wabasha-zip.htmWabasha III / "Red-Leaf" / Lafeuille / Ouabachas: (abt.1700/20 - ?) He was the son of Wabasha II, born in the Cass Lake area. His children were: Wabasha IV (b.abt.1773/76), Pelagia (b.abt.1779/81)(m.Augustin Ange dit St.Onge-Lefeure), Daughter (b.abt.1776)(m.Pierre Lapointe), Marpiyarotowin or "Grey Cloud" (d.1844)(m.James Aird, abt.1783), Daughter (b.abt.1775)(m.Joseph Larocque) & Margaret (m.1st.Antoine Dubois & m.2nd.Joseph Rolette). Antoine Dubois was murdered. Joseph Rolette later married a girl of about 15, Jane [or Genevieve] Fisher, who lived with the Brisbois family at Prairie du Chien. Rolette, if I can recall, had one or two daughters with Margaret. One of them was called Emilie, who married Captain Alexander Hooe. Anyway, Rolette's first family is easily discovered.

One daughter of Marguerite Dubois, descendant of Wapasha, was EmilieRolette [Mrs. Hooe]. Emilie Rolette was born on 9 Sep 1811. She died on 6 Jul 1885. She was buried in Jul 1885 in Falls Church, Fairfax, Virginia. The following are buried in the Frenchtown Cemetery of Prairie du Chien:
Rolette,Angelique buried Sep;20,1825 I think this might be a daughter of Rolette Sr. with his second wife. Not sure.
Elizabeth died May 7,1843,age 29 years;dau.of Joseph
Since she was born in 1814, she was probably a daughter of Rolette and Marguerite Laurent (no data) ,brother of Joseph Jean Joseph Sep;24,1781---Dec;3,1842,age 64 yrs,2 mo,9 dys; born in Quebec Margaret Du Bois died in 1817

Here is Emilie Rolette Hooe's 1855 affidavit: No 7 "I Emilie Hooe of Prairie du Chien State of Wisconsin, being duly sworn depose and say: that I am the daughter of Joseph Rolette and that my mother was Margaret Dubois, who was a half blood of the Medawahkanton band of the Dacotah. She was cousin of Wabashaw now the chief of said tribe. I am now forty two years of age and am entitled to the benefits due to a “Quarter Blood” of the aforesaid band under the treaty of Prairie du Chien of 15th July 1830. I reside at Prairie du Chien. I have four children, to wit: Alexander Seymour aged 23 years, Josephine aged 21 years, Emilie Mason Hooe aged 18 years, and Harriet aged 15 years. Alexander resides in San Francisco Cal. My three other children live with me at this place. Emilie Hooe" In 1855 when the affidavit was signed the " Wabashaw now the chief of said tribe" is Wapasha III (1812-1876).
