Looking for anyone with information on a Charles LaRondeau (Rondeau) owned a ferry over the Floyd River at Sioux City Iowa 1856. Married a full blood Yancton sioux woman with Cristian name of Margarette. Two children Antoinette b 1853 and Baptiste b 1854. Parents died and left children orphans. The children are listed as claimants on the Nemaha Half Breed Reserve list. Baptiste (John) LaRondeau was my great grandfather. He had a half brother named William Benoist. Baptiste LaRondeau ended up in Rulo, NE from Sioux City Iowa.

I believe I am on to something. Joseph benoist was my gg grandfather. Roselle his daughter was my gg . I'm also looking for info.

the south Dakota Historical soc. Archives has a ile on the Benoist family. google it and get contact information to find what you are looking for.

Just saw this posting, My Grandmother Rose Carpenter Randeau whose father was W Carpenter Randeau born 1852 died 2/2/1934 >his father was Wm Charles Randeau wife Lucky Oranotawin born 1839 to June 1916 St. Joseph Baptist Church Crow Creek>>Mother was Cloud that Stops four times, which is in the archives on here someplace.....You can contact me on Facebook Rene'e DawnDay Conner also on Facebook administrator on "Native Artists and Craftsmen"

I found an Elizabeth Hunts the enemy,born @1897,
parents stephen and wife Matilda Hunts the enemy.
We need more information.

mdfetty: Charles was born in Canada. he died @1856 in Sioux City, Ia. His wife was Margarite Acrow born 1832 in Minn. She as bapt.by Fr. Hoecken at Ft. Pierre, SD, in 18340 0n June 3 13th. her parents were joseph Acrow, ad Madeliene Muldatta. She remarried to Louis Alexis Benoist on 24 June, 856 Sgt. Bluff Ia. She died 1860 Ft. Sully, Hughes, SD
With spouse 2 they had a son William Howaste Benoist(1859 - 1910)

I do not have any information other than he was the father of my grandmother Clarinda LeBeau. He wasn't around though and Felix LeBeau raised her with her mom Elizabeth Hunts the Enemy.
