George Rockboy was born abt 1873 of the Yankton Sioux Tribe and died 11 Nov 1932. Rockboy's mother's name was Takukoyakewin and she was born abt 1835.
I am looking for George's wife's name. I do have a name of Rosa with no dob or any idea where I got this name, perhaps on ancestry. She is not listed on the Yankton Sioux ICS, which means she is either white or of another tribe of Sioux. George is the father of:
Lizzie, b. 1894 Eunice, b. 1895 Winnie, b. 1896 Lucy, b. 1898 Bessie, b. 1900 Frances, b. 1902 Joseph, b. 1904 Webster, b. 1905 Early, b. 1908 Clarence Morris, b. 1914
I would appreciate any info on the mother of George Rockboy's children.
Thanks.
Lavanah

George Rockboy was still alive in 1934, and listed as widowed. he was 61 yrs old.he hd moved to the Rosebud Reservation . the wife Rosa is mentioned in his WWI Draft Registration Card. I am guessing that she must have been a non-indian. because only enrolled members were listed on the Indian Censuses and Annuity Rolls. he couldn't have sired those kids by himself.

Hermin, just to let you know that all the Yanktons are listed on the 1934 & 37 ICS as being under Rosebud. They were still located on the Yankton Rez. This was due to the fact that the Yanktons rejected the IRA and their punishment was to be a sub-division of the Rosebud Agency and were denied self government until 1963 when they were allowed to have elections once again and elected Percy Archambeau as their tribal chair. My grandfather, Clement Smith was the official and unofficial tribal chair during the 1930s and up to WWII.
Many people make this error as it does say Rosebud Reservation but in fact as I have stated we were a sub-agency of Rosebud.

I checked the Yankton Agency church Records, the Hill church and the Cedar? Church records I have, but no record of George married in any of those churches, nor were any of his children baptized in any of those churches. I think you may beright lavanah about hi wife either being non-indian or notwenrolled withthe Yankton tribe, which explains why shewasnot listed in the censuses. Have you contacted earth7w for help? she is the historian for the Rosebud Tribe and may have info. Your other option is to contact NARA for George's heirship report.
