Besides checking each page, what is the best way to get to know this website. There seems to be a lot of activity, and I want to make the best of the information shared here. Thanks.

Tvarela: Each section has a topic heading,ie birth Records,or church records, etc goto the section that you hope will have the types of records you seek.Selet it and then scroll down to see if what you are looking for is on that page.some sections have more than one page,so you will need to scroll though the pages of that section. the Archive has records that were moved there for afekeeping. they cannot be altered or removed, which you can also access. If you see therecord(s0 you want you can print them out by going to File on the menu bar and then select Print.

I've always been "confused" growing up; when everyone said "there goes those Booth kids, tearin' 'round like a bunch of l'il indians!", apparently, they weren't kidding! The long-held family secret was that my father's mother was 1/4 Sioux, and that my great-great grandmother MAY have apparently have been Little Crow's youngest daughter! Oh, and the "plot" just gets better; you see, I'm ALSO related to John Wilkes Booth, so try livin' with THAT tuggin' at your soul! I have a photo of Wawinape and my great-great grandma(Alice), at about the same age(and time), and they look like twins! Apparently, allice was taken from "up north"(p Pike Island/Fort Snelling?) and brought down the Missiissippi River to St. Louis(as a very young child), where she was off-loaded and either sold or given away as a slave, as she had a gimpy arm(this can be seen in that photo of her and her sister, along with her Mother, on Pike Island; she's the one wearin' the bear-claw necklace. Kinda ironic, ain't it; ME, bein' named Moto Na Jhin Han, or "Walking Bear"?), at which time she was then transported down-river to the Ohio, then back up the Ohio to the Lafyette River area, where she was settled into Evensville(IL) and/or Kentucky(across the river), where she attended a "boarding school" that "cut her hair, denied her her heritage, and basically beat the Indian outta her! She went into "indentured servitude" for my grandmother's great-grandfather(bad back from the civil war) and ended up marrying his son. She learned how to sew, spin, and even play the piano with that gimpy arm. funny thing, though; she carried the (maiden) name "Snellen". Our family, BOTH sides, is IRISH; Snellen is German. That's why I believe that she was mistakenly (re)named Alice "from Fort Snelling"; just got shortened up, like what happened A LOT at Ellis Island. I have had "visions" since I was 10' I have "lived", as well as traveled in MOST of Little Crow's old haunts. I felt his hands on my shoulders the day I was at the "site" in Mankato 35 years ago. Some Native-American folk in Redwood Falls invited me into their home 25 years ago and acted as if though I were family. My relative SHOT LINCOLN, for creep sake! and all of this AND SO MUCH MORE, BEFORE I ever even knew of my "blood" existence"! I have given up Catholicism(they put on a good show, but the gig never did fit!) for the Native-American way of "belief", and have found is to be SO MUCH MORE "in-touch" with my spirit; I can finally "feel" a "connection" to the "other side", and I now KNOW that my prayers are being heard; I see "evidence" of it almost daily! I'm happy again! But I'm still "confused", as to my "origins"; WHO AM I"? IS Little Crow my Great-Great-Great Grandfather? Do I have a "story" now?

Define your purpose, in being here...is it to research...or share? You control your destiny...peace. Define your purpose, in being here...is it to research...or share? You control your destiny...peace. Hi, I’m Shannon, I am mostly white, but Very proud of my Sioux heritage (all my past relatives grandpa and Aunt are enrolled in rosebud reservation). I grew up with my Grandfafher telling me I was Indian and he instilled a great pride in this heritage above all others in me. I mainly hope to find new information on my ancestors. And I’m happy to share what I’ve found as I have seen threads with people questioning my ancestors names etc. (Mary Ichta Washte Goodline Drappeau, her parents Scared at his Shadow, and Pumpkin Seed Wistu, and Goodlines 2nd husband Drappeau. I’ve traced back to where/who we descend from, hope to have light shed light into how to find out more info (names of siblings, photos of them? ) and I can put the handed down family photo here and see if anyone can direct me to how to find out the name of the man in the photo - as the name my grandfather said doesn’t seem to have existed and my Grandfafher is now dead...not sure of the photo is actually a relation. Hoping to find out more about the Medicine Cow band… and wondering where I should post the document that Informs history and origins for the Drappeau, La roche, and sully families as as it looks like they all came from Goodline, and I found a document that really has some good information and wanted to share. Shannon
