Dear Oyate Friends!
As many of you know, my oldest adopted son Isaac, has just been accepted into the Yankton Sioux Tribe. His Bio-Father, Carl Drapeau filed his paperwork in order to help Isaac.
Isaac was accepted many months ago, but due to the floods at the tribal headquarters, his processing has been greatly delayed. It has been many many months. Last week, he traveled to Marty SD and waited patiently for someone to assist him in getting his acceptance letter, an ID number, health information and any paperwork that he could get to be able to apply for Higher Education assistance. After waiting 4 hours, he was only able to get his letter of acceptance, no ID #, no health coverage info, no education info.
Isaac is a very intelligent young man. He rec'd a 29 on his ACT score. He is only interested in finding out about his heritage and what being accepted into the Yankton Sioux tribe means and what it entitles him to. He is not asking for something other than those basic rights. He is deeply in need of assistance right now., to stay in school and keep himself going. I have helped him as much as I can with 8 other children to care for.
If there is ANYONE who can assist him in getting his information processed, please write me back. Thank you Sherwyn for your previous assistance, but none of those people that you mentioned had any interest in assisting him. It is not my intent to accuse or offend anyone. Isaac said that while he understood that some of the people may have been at lunch when he arrived, but he was told that they would be back soon. He waited patiently for 4 hours(closing time). Not one person assisted him.
Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.
