Re: How do I get family tree information from the « Reply #5 Today at 2:14pm »
[Modify] [Delete] I am looking for information on descendants of William Bain/Baine who married two Sioux women named Susan and Margare (don't know their Indian names). There children: Martha A (1869-1940) married Archie Crotzer (1879-?); William Milton (1873-1905) married Jennie Fitting (1876-1905) Jennie's parents Mary LeBlanc/Frederick Fitting; Emeron (1867-?); Sallie (1875-?) married Frank LaFramboise (1866-1941); John (1877-?) married Sallie Art; and George Allen (1879-1940) married Ann Hill. Questions: Who are Frank LaFramboise's parents/grandparents & Mary LaBlanc's parents/grandparents (I believe she is the granddaughter of Louis LeBlanc (Provencalle))? Where is Jennie Fitting-Bain buried and can you fill in the death dates of the "?". Trying to finish a book for my Dad's 88th in October. His name is Leonard William Baine born in Lake City South Dakota. I have some pictures and newspaper articles on these people but am looking for more. Can anyone help me please - Rebecca Baine-Yates

Yes rayhenry and bless you, these are the people I am looking for. Walter is my Grandfather, his parents were William Bain and Jennie Fitting. To finish my book (a gift for my Dad now 88) I need the following: Who were the parents of Frank LaFramboise? Frank married Sallie Bain. Who was Mary LeBlanc's Father, his birth date, and is she the Granddaughter of Louis LeBlanc? Last question where is Jennie Fitting-Bain buried?
I have William Bain's birth date as 10 Sept 1873 at Old Ft. Sisseton. Martha born 1869 Walter had a sister Paulina born 1897 but gone after the 1898 census.
Looking for parents of and Indian name of Susan Bain (b1869). She is Mother of William Milton Bain (b1873), Grandmother of William Walter/Walter William, GGrandmother of Leonard William Baine and my GGGandmother. She married William Bain, a soldier at Ft. Sisseton. William then married Maggie Holy Face.
Rebecca64: my records show William Milton's mother was Margaret Holy face. William Milton's wife possibly Alice Powless(Oneida Indian). Their children: Hope Baine b.1903 sisseton,SD, and William Milton Baine ,Jr. born June,1905 Sisseton,SD. I'm wondering, could Wm Baine Sr. have married sisters, Susan and Margaret Holy Face?

It's possible Susan and Maggie are sisters. So, I do I find out? I live in California and made two trips to the Reservation in Sisseton for information on Susan, Maggie and Jennie Fitting-Baine and was met with blank looks and shrugs. The information I've found says Susan (Itecakawakawin) was William Sr. first wife. children: Martha A & William Milton Jr.. William Sr. second wife was Maggie (Itecokawakawin) Holy Face.children: Emery, Sallie, John Clarence & George Allen. William Jr. married Jennie Fitting, Alice Powless and Eva Littlethunder. children: Walter William, Paulina, Hope Winona, William III and Bertha Jean (born after William's death). It's possible Susan and Maggie are sisters but who are the parents? Where is Jennie Fitting-Bain(e) buried? Sorry but I've been trying to solve this mystery for five years. Any help would be grateful.
William Baine was Scotch-Irish. william Milton Baine attended the Carlisle Institute, according to the school records I have. I am sorry I do not know where on the sisseton Reservation susan is buried. did you check the Sisseton Allotment Records? they are at this web site, but I am sorry I don't know which section they are in. You may find susan and Maggie's parents there,if they got a land allotment.
Still looking for the names of Frank LaFramboise's (1866 - 1941) parents, his wife was Sallie Bain (1875-?); and the parents of Mary LeBlanc who married Frederick Fitting. I believe Mary is the granddaughter of Louis LeBlanc dit Provencale. Another question, how do I find out why William Milton Bain is buried in the Sisseton Cemtery rather than on the Reservation?
Frank lafromboise's parents were Joseph Lafromboise and Josephine Josette Catara. Frank was born 6 June 1869,Stdg. Rock Ind. Res., ND.(LDS Archives,Provo UT) ancestry has Frank born 1868.take your pick on Birth date for Frank. Frank and Sallie Bain had Frances b. 1893, twins Frank Jr. and Antoine born@1896,Annie b. @1886, and Lillian Myrtle born 1906.
Note: Sallie's sister is listed as Wiptesan/white Buffalo, and Sallie's Indian name is listed as Zitkalasapawin(Blackbird) on some of the censuses where they appear with Frank and the other embersodf his family.

Thanks Hermin1. I also have George Henry b. 1901; Marjorie b. 1910; and Joseph Emmet b. 1913 as Frank and Sallie's other children. Now I need the names and birth dates of Mary LeBlanc-Fitting-Woulph's parents. I believe Mary's Indian name was Aupetuwastwin and either her Gr-Gr-Grandfather or Grandfather was the Canadian Louis Carbonneau dit Provencale dit Leblanc (1773 Quebec - 1851 Mendota Minn). Louis was married to Wanska Shecha and Muzza-na-ka-kay-dan. Mary LeBanc married Frederick Peter Fitting then Samuel Woulph. Her children were Jennie, Peter, Ruby, Walter & Minnie Fitting; and Lilly Mae, Sarah, & Georgia Ann Woulph. Thanks again for our help! Rebecca (aka Le Bec)
rebecca: do you know where she died? if you do, type the name of the state and Death Certificates(or try Records) name into Google . if yu can find her death certificate tiwill list where sheis buried.
rebecca: i have an 1850 Minnesota Terr. census for Wabashaw county that lists a Joseph Provencalle age35 b. Minn. Terr. wife margarite age 30 b. Minn. terr. Joseph jr. age 8 yrs. b. Minn. Terr. dau. Mary age 1 b. Minn. Terr.
The LeBlancs also went by Provencalle and by Carbonneau, ie Louis Carbonneau dit Provencalle dit LeBlanc aka Skadan(Little white).I found him living with his daughter Angelique in Mendota,Dacotah County in the same 1850 census mentioned above. He was using the Provencalle surname then, as was Angelique without a death dte and where she died, and birth date,i can't help yu. it does appear that Jospeh Sr. and/or his son Joseph ,Jr. may be the one that moved to south dakota and married Nancy.
Thanks Hermin1. I believe Mary LeBlanc died 1925 in Sisseton. I know she is buried in the Catholic Cemetery on the Res in Sisseton. I'll check out the 1850 census. This is the only info I need to complete my book of the Baine Family History.
JOSEPH NARCISSE LAFRAMBOISE was born December 1828 in Turtle Mountain Reservation, Belcourt, Rolette County, North Dakota, and died 1905 in Turtle Mountain Reservation, Belcourt, Rolette County, North Dakota. He married JOSEPHINE (JOSETTE) COTTARAU, CANTARA, CATARA.
Susan, wife of Frank LaFromboise, was the daughter of Bought Grey cow and unknown. thanks for your help mink. rebecca64 a good reference is Old Traverse des Sioux.published by the Nicollet county Historical society.
