Hello everyone,
I just started to research my family tree a couple of days. I must say this is very addicting. I just hapenned to come across this website by accident. Hopefully some of you might be able to provide me with some additional information.
My Grandfather is Michael McKay(1900-1974). His parents are Luke McKay(1862-1953) and Mary Louise Hdaiwankewin(1863-?). I believe Luke's parents are Luke McKay Sr and Four Souls Nagitopawin(1830-?).That is all that I have so far on my Grandfather's side.
According to census my Grandmother's name was Mary F McKay(Lohnes) but my father said her name was Florence May or Mary. She was born in 1905 or 1906. My dad said she died when she was 43 so that would be around 1948 or 1949. Her parents were James Lohnes(1879-?) and Angeline Suayaninapewin (1862-?). James Lohnes parents were Edward Lohnes(1844-?) and Hohpetowin(Blue Nest) (1851-?). I know Hohpetowin's father was Waanatan II(1828-1897). I know he was married to Mazawin and Pazawin. I am not sure which one was Hohpetowin's mother. The only other information that I have is Waanatan II father is Waanatan I(1795-1840) and his father was Wakinyanduta I (Red Thunder) (?-1823).
I gathered most of this information from ancestry.com, either from census or other people's family trees, and the Mni Waken Oyate book by Mark Diedrich. Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.
