Still searching for any info on the David and Iyuduzewin Kampeska and family. Mary aka Ipatannajin Kampeska Harris (great grandmother) was married to Stanley Harris. Mary died in 1896. Mary's son George was my great grandfather. Any photos available of the Kampeska family. Sisseton/Peever area.

ammann: i went into the Indian Census Schedules for the kampeska name again: mary Ipatan kampeska(b. @1872) had at least 3 sons with Stanley Harris before she died: George born 1889, Benjamin b.1890, andJoseph kampeska born@1893 (Ref. 1895 sisseton-Wahpeton Census).
As for David Kampeska, yes his name was mispelled in a couple of the Censuses, and it looks like the following were his and Iyuduzehewin's children: David Jr. h/o winona and had a son henry Daniel b. 1870 was h/o winona and had a dau. Daisy(1895 Census) Frank b. 1879 Jacob John b. 1872 was h/o Mazatopawin Nellie age 14(1895 Census) Bessie b. @ 1881 Wanakuje b. @1886 George was h/o Mary Bartlet(nee Goodboy) and they had Philip, Nellie Tanazasinawin, Eli and Stephen. mary had a son by ? Bartlet before she married George.Mary Bartlet later remarried to William Keoyoke(1910 Census). the problem with the finding when they died is the South Dakota Index on Ancestry starts with 1905-1959. Try contacting vicky valenta at Jandv@inebraska.com and see if she may be able to help you.tell her Hermin1 referred you.

I have been in contact with Vicky Valenta. She was not able to shed any light on my problem.
It seems that David Kampeska was also known as Daniel Kampeska? David (Daniel) had two wives ... Iyduzehewin and Mazatopawin. Mazatopawin was the mother of Daniel Jr. (I think), John, Nellie, Bessie and Wanakuje. John had the name Bear and Kampeska?
Yes, Ipatan had George, Benjamin and Joseph with Stanley Harris before she died. I think they had another son that died.

ammann: thanks for clearing up my confusion. I mistakenly thought that mazatopawin was the wife of David kampeska jr. I wish I knew someone there at Sisseton that might know who has the burial records, but I don't.if I know Vicky, she checked www.find A Grave.com to try to find mary 's Grave location.
