hermin1 mentioned a Granny Weston aka Tahkonnnheha (Raspberry) as a colorful charcter in Flandreau early history
Do you (or anyone else) have further information on her? I am trying to identify a portrait that I believe was her. __________ I am so sorry . i do not. maybe someone at the Flandreau Museum can help you.
I have been working with the Flandreau Museum but have found no further information.

Does anyone have church records of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Flandreau or records of the Indian Cemetery at Flandreau. Looking for death of Mary Weston in approximately 1900. About 78 years old. Thanks!

Could Hehotewin and Tahkoneheha be the same person?
What would the Indian name be for Raspberry? Maybe the Tahkoneheha is not correct?

ammann your granny weston died in 1898, and is buried in the old Indian cemetery at or near flandreau. i can't find any listing of burials for that cemetery. re. John Weston, he is listedin the US Census for Brookings, Dakota Terr. at age 54, with wife Elizabeth age 45 and dau. Elizabeth age 17. They are also listed in the 1880 US Census for Moody,Dakota Terr. and John is 67,Mary is now 60, and Elizabeth is 21 yrs old.
I don't have therest of that article. but I think you should type Flandreau Indian Reservation, oody ,SD into google. I bleieve there may be a website that gives the history of the First Presbyterian church at Flandreau. i think it is called experiment of faith.the flandreau links also may havelinksthat mention people who settled atflandreau.

Did you find written record of that death or hear say? I cannot find a death date on her. I have read the History of the First Presbyterian church at Flandreau. I found Mary (Hehotawin) and John her husband. Am wondering since there deaths are not in the Presbyterian burial records did they switch to the Episcopal Church. I believe they lived on the south side of the river in Flandreau which was close to the old Episcopal Church. Yes, I have found them in the Brookings Dakota Territory census. My problem is that there were 3 Granny Westons in Flandreau and I am try to prove that the Granny Weston that begged for food and roamed around Flandreau was Mary Weston. The portrait of her was painted in 1896.
