we had a great genealogy conference at crow creek on may 1 thanks to the pros, sarah, tamara, and john. now it got me going again on research. does anyone know how many rattling hail's there are and does anyone have any info on Hit Him In The Middle, like who he might have been related to or any siblings or children? Looks like his daughter Margaret Strikes The Ree, Lakaunt, Fleury, Cartier (Kirkie) was born around Browns Valley MN in 1820s? Her mother was Rattling Hail. Does someone know how many Rattling Hails there were and what band? Thanks, I mean Pidama. Mona
______________ Margaret was a full blood Sisseton. try the Sisseton Archives.

I am on the east coast so I am unable to access many of the Crow Creek records. I am about to start ordering microfilm, because I am stuck in my search. I would love any information you could pass on. I am searching for the family of Louis Fire Tail born 1874 in Fort Thompson. His father's name was Fire Tail and I was told his mother's name was Medicine Shell, but I don't have confirmation on that. Fire Tail was born about 1855. If you could help point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
Thanks, Becca
Becca: i will see what I can find for you
Update: Louis fire Tail born 1876 wife: Minnie Finley ( some of the censues say she was an enrolled Kiowa, others that she was 1/2 Cado) prior to 1906 Crow Creek Census , Louis was single or living with his parents.the 1906 Crow creek Census lists him as husband , with son Joseph age1. children: Joseph b.1905 Chauncy b. 1909 spencer Louis b 1917 harvey b. 1920 _--- Louis had at least a sister annie fire Tail. His maternal grandmother was Scratcher born @1829(US Census Crow creek, buffalo,SD)she is listed with Louis's parents. ope this helps.

Mona-
I sent you a message, I am not sure if you got it. I am basically looking for the ancestors of Spencer Louis Fire Tail. I know his father was Firetail, possibly with the first name Joseph. His mother was Medicine Shell, and her mother was Scratcher. Do you have any more information on Firetail's parents or Medicine Shells' father?
Thanks, Becca

Hi Mona, I am the oldest great granddaughter to Louis Firetail through his son Spencer Louis Fire. My brother is his namesake and his wife is Becca. I was wondering if you have pictures and any additional info you sent to Becca. I am continuing the research that I started 6 yrs ago on our Sioux heritage. I would love to corespond and meet with my Lakota family! Holly Fire-Meade
