The only place I have seen Tail woman mentioned is from your posting in the section re. sihahanska aka Longfoot. There are two Longfoots. there is Peter Longfoot, son of chief War eagle and the Longfoot who was married to cekpawin(she was his second spouse). You mentioned that this Tail woman came to Fort Pecck. When did she come to Ft. Peck?

Hello. It is on this site where i seen the mention of Long Foot, Peter Long Foot..and Cekpawin. I even seen that it was corrected...looking into it more..i see the name Wayagiyotankewin as being the mother of Florence Tail Woman...she was born 1868 and died on 09-09-33. I looked at the census years and it looks like she arrived on Fort Peck around the mid 1880's. She had several daughters with a Wasuiciyapi...and she settled on Fort Peck. I looked for another Long Foot and I found one on Crow Creek but I could not figure out how it tied together. Like I stated in my e-mai...we are getting a probate on her..since she was alive here to be alloted..it seems she received land from her husband on the Sisseton Reservation. The names Cekpawin are still on her paperwork however. Any help on this would be great...
________________ I cannot find any mention of Wayagiyotankewin having a daughter named Florence Red Tail woman.According to the BIA Records, The Wayagiyotakewin, who was dau//o Cekpawin and Chief Longfoot(not Peter Longfoot) died in1897 and was married only once, to James Sweetcorn. They had 2 children, Henry and Augusta Sweetcorn who died very young in 1893. You should contact the NARA in Washington,DC and see what they have on Your florence Tail woman. the contact person is Mary Frances.Ronan@nara.gov.

Hello, So glad to hear my family has so many relatives. My name is Barbara Hill. I was born in Sisseton, South Dakota. My father was Harold Hill. As everyone knows, we connect to one of the Wabasha Chiefs on the Robertsons side. I don't know which one yet as I have not been able to finish our tree on my mother's side, linking to War Eagle.
I obtained documents from the BIA in Aberdeen, SD on my mother, her father and mother, their parents, and so on....I have baptismal records, some Birth Certificates, etc...since we are related through the War Eagle family. We are from Blazing Cloud one of the daughters of War Eagle. My mother was Lois Lillian Miner, her mother was Mary Molly Brugier, also known as Molly Brugier some people say. We always called her "grandma Mary". She was married to Edward Miner. Grandma Mary's mother was Elilzabeth Red Road (Woman?) born in Eagle Butte, SD, 11/1867, died in Eagle Butte, SD 12/07/1909. GG Elizabeths father, Paul Bruguier was born on the Cheyenne River Reservation, 11/1895, he died in Cheyenne River on 2/11/1911. Paul Bruguiers mother was Amelia Traversie, born 1840 in Woodbury, IA. She passed away on 2/11/1928 somewhere that I haven't found yet. His father was Eugene Andrew Bruguier, born in SD, Married in 1869, dying in Ft. Yates, ND 12/20/1911. Eugene Bruguiers father was Theophile Bruguier born 8/31/1813 in Canada, dying 2/13/1895 in Iowa. (My mother and Aunts referred to him as "Theo" even though he had passed years before. I think this was during the time in 1981 when my mother and Aunts had to do the descendancy to War Eagle) Anyway, Eugenes mother was Blazing Cloud who was born 1814 in New Jersey, and died in 1858 in Iowa. Blazing clouds father was Chief War Eagle born in Wisconsin in 1785 and died in Iowa in 1851. Blazing clouds mother was Laughs At Iron Woman born in New Jersey and died in New Jersey. If anyone is interested in the connection, please go to the "Hill Family Tree" in Ancestry.com.

Just a note: None of War Eagles relatives by marriage or otherwise were born in NEW JERSEY.
Word to the Wise--Do not take everything posted on Ancestry as fact.
Lavanah Great-great-great-great-Granddaughter to Chief War Eagle __________ for that matter, don't believe everything you read in a book either, that deals with Indian History that was written by a non-Indian.

I wonder where that new Jersey date came from. I too would like to see where that data came from. I did find another War Eagle Coming in the south dakota Historical Collection. Vol2.1904, in Doane Robinson's History of the Dakota or sioux Indians. he was killed though, I believe before 1850.No mention of where this one came from. for that matter does anyone have written documentation to show where Chief War Eagle was born, other than a second hand reference I have seen references that put him born in what is now Wisconsin, others saythe area That became Minnesota Territory.

matthew: Start with your parents and work backwards,as far back on your ancestors on both sides of your family, recording vital data on each person in your "Tree". I would also recommend you contact Vicky Valenta: Jandv@inebraska.com for help. she is helping Jimmy( a descendent of the Trudells, etc) with his web site.
