I am curious about this name. I have limited info for the Joseph LaFramboise family at Sisseton, but all their children's names I have are their English names. Which daughter was this (English name)? Thanks!

She is Susan Blackbird- Francis La Fromboise wife b. about 1840. the LaFramboise has Frank b.1867/8 as their son. Unable to make connection. Frank had married Sallie Bain. It appears Susan Blackbird father was Crazy Bear brother to Mad Bear buried in the Catholic Cmetery either @ Wakapala or Mobridge. (ST Beq?).

I don not know about little-but you may be write. They have death records a probate family line from the bia which lists Francis stating they have no info on him. They believe he is the son of one of the Josephs. In Sleepy Eyes google cheif there is a history by Joseph.

I have exhausted my Sisseton records and find no Francis. Having done a search of this site, I find only one mention of a Francis in the following thread- oyate1.proboards58.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=census&thread=406&page=1The LaFramboise who settled at Sisseton were Joseph, Alexis and Glode and their families. I have found LaFramboise families in SD, MN, WI, ND, MO and IA, just to name a few. It appears to me that the Joseph and the other familes on the Menominee list are different from the folks who settled at Sisseton. You might also try searching for FRANCOIS LaFramboise, as that is what his name would have been in French. The name is also often spelled- LaFlamboise, LaFromboise and just plain Flamboise, which of course, makes searching just so much more fun! Gosh, this is such an extensive family. I think there may be a connection way back at Michilimackinac in the early 1800's, but I don't know where it would be. Sorry. :-(

I found another Joseph married to a Magdalene here- listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/IAFREMON/2003-11/1069452373The Council Bluffs LaFramboise are well documented in the book The Tepee and the Church which you will find on this site. These are not the Sisseton LaFramboise, so I don't know where you should look. :-(

How was it apparent that Susan Blackbird(abt 1834) was the daughter of Crazy Bear? (Birth unknown. Brother mad bear was born 1836.) That would mean abt 1810 for the birth of crazy bear if he was the father... Im working on a Tree on ancestory.com. Frank laframboise (1866) is my great grandfather and he was Francois and susan blackbirds son.
