I am looking for information the Parents/Grandparents/etc of Peter Labelle. Here is my constructed genealogy based on my own research.
Peter LaBelle b. 1851 > William LaBelle b. 1879 > Gilbert LaBelle b. 1904 > Jack D. LaBelle b. 1928 > Steven W. LaBelle b. 1956 > Steven W. LaBelle Jr. b. 1979 (me)
unfortunately the only information i could find on Peter was census records from 1880 and around there, so my researched has stopped at:
Lake Traverse Reservation South Dakota
Peter LaBelle b. 1851 Spouse Mary
Please help me keep going!

Thank you hermin1 for your help! Yes, Steve, I see the resemblance. You look like him too! I wish everyone would post their photos here, it is so much fun to "see" who we are "talking" to. I hope you will also post the group photo over in the "Sisseton photos" section. This request has been especially fun for me. I am descended from the LaCroix, who were neighbors of the LaBelle back in Renville County, MN and the children of one family started marrying the children of the other starting with Spencer LaCroix and Madeline LaBelle in 1872. Both families settled near Veblen, Marshall County, SD, and many more marriages between the two families occurred over the years. You cannot study one family without learning about the other. I have a great deal more info for you. You'll be hearing from me. :-)

Hello everyone! I am on this forum in hopes to find out more about my family. I am now 33 years old, but I didn’t really know my biological father very well, his name is Roland LaBelle. I talked with him a few times, he is enrolled in the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate tribe in SD. He told me that my distant grandfather was Chief Gabriel Ti'wakan Renville. This was interesting and sparked my interest in tracing my genealogy. I traced Gabriel Renville’s tree and wanted to see just where the LaBelle’s came in, and I saw that Gabriel’s son Victor had a daughter named Ellen. Ellen later married Austin LaBelle (Son of Louis LaBelle Jr.). Austin and Ellen had two kids named Morris LaBelle and Marion LaBelle. And that’s where my research stops, as I have been unable to find anything on Morris or Marion, or even Austin. I am unsure if my research is even correct, but if anyone out there is able to help me fill these missing pieces i would be very grateful. I would love to learn more about my roots and Native American history. You can reply on here, or you can email me at steven.chandler1684@gmail.com
