Do you know who these people are?
Susan Goodteacher-my G-Grandmother do you have any info on if her father was Wapaha, and would a Mazakininwinna is a grandmother to her? Wondering if there is a Ross connection there.
I am also wondering why a Iyetankawin was living with my G-Grandfather Samuel Wolfe in an 1885 Santee Sioux Census, what is the relationship there?
Grace Goodteacher-Robertson was my Grandmother.
Just trying to still connect the dots...thanks for your time. Lostchild

Lostchild, I to would like to connect these dots. I have just recently started to look at my side of the Goodteacher line, and I am feeling like a lostchild too This side is So hard - I am going nuts. In Job Goodteacher's probate it has Susan Goodteacher then Hawley after Goodteacher. In the Santee ledger book 1 it has Wapaha as Susan's father and Makebdedutawin(not sure of the spelling) as her mother. Was Iyetankawin a Goodteacher? Now Thomas Goodteacher married a Wolfe. He married Mary in 1905 when she was 14. Mary's parents were Samuel and Julia Wolfe. My Goodteacher's that I am working on are Rev. Joseph Goodteacher born 8-22-1866: whose parents were Peter St. John and Anna Tahazadan. Anna died in 1883. For weeks I was chasing the wrong Goodteacher. I was chasing James Goodteacher who I "thought" was married to Anna. I finally realized that James could not help me because he was not Joseph's father anyway Brain Fart! LOLOL I wish you luck! whipple: Re. Susan Goodteacher, you go by her baptismal record, in so far as who her parents were. I do not have a copy of the probate you were referring to, so wouldn't bew able to offer any information that would help you. Lost child:Re. Mazakiniiwinna, there is no connection to the Rosses, that I have been able to see or find.I hope you didn't get a copy of that probate court record on maza kinniwinna from Center NE.

lost child: Iyetankewin was not living with Samuel Wolfe in the 1885 santee Census I have. she was the grandmother of Julia Jones and was listed with Julia on the 1885 Santee Census . I have. what 1885 Census are you referring to?
I did some checking and there is a Wapaha who was indeed married to the mother of Susan Goodteacher. he was also married at one time to Nancy Tatewakanhdiwin and they did have a son named charles ross. They were both killed by Lightning and Charles's aunt took him and raised him. do not confuse this Wapaha with John B. Wapaha. they are not the same person. tatewakanhdiwin's parents were Mazawasicum and tunkankiyewin, according to Paul Brill. _______________ this Wapaha who was killed by lightning, had a twin brother, who was married to Wanske.

Thanks

Thanks Hermin 1 and Big Jon!!! He never had a Indian name on any census. I thought that by him being a priest and all it would have been easier to find out where he died, but not so. These darn Goodteachers are so hard for me to figure out. Thanks for all your help!
Whipple _________________________ whipple: I couldn't find him on the Santee allotment list I have. He either didn't have an alllotment at Santee, or his land was sold before he died, or he was living somewhere else when he died. I don't have a n Heirship Report on him so I can't help you more at this time. You might want to contact NARA either in Washington,DC or kansas city: barbara.larsen@nara.gov if this don't work try barbara.larsen@nara.gov (kansas city researcher) Mary Frances.Ronan@nara.gov (wash. DC researcher) You need to give his name , tribal affiliation, and when he died, so they can see what they have on him.

Hermin,
What Dakota name do you have for Job GoodTeacher? I thought is was Tate Sica, but on the 1902 Santee Family census it look like it's Wapaksi ?nye I have been trying to decipher that name as I have never seen it before. If anyone has any ideas that's great. I don't think that Job is related to the other Goodteacher's, but, I am open to all options.
Pilamiya, Wanbliho ______________-- Wanbliho: I have Okawinge for Job goodteacher's Indian name.
