Oyate Researchers Greetings Again,ld like some help with what Oiyewastewin means? I know Good Woman is part of it. She was married to Mdokahunciyena don't know when yet but they are Emma Wiwanmdi who was baptised ?/6/1878 at crow creek. Thank You. wbyno

wbyno: any possibility that the first part Oyei may be misspelled? wastewin could also mean pretty woman . the wi in her spouses name I believe means moom, but am not sure about the wamndi(possibly Eagle?)

wbymo: I checked the 1869 and 1889 crow Creek censuses. I found a Oyewstewin aka pretty Track(woman),married to an Eagle elk. could she be the one you are looking for?

Tawa i believe , means his, wi'wamndi I think means moom eagle junhusta- i don't have a clue on this . Louie garcia may be able to help you . if we knew the english translation it would help us earch for you. it would also help if you would tell us date of that census and where that census was done , that she /he sent you. Otherwise, we'd be spinning our wheels trying to help you.
