I have been looking for more on Canoin for a long time. I have papers from Kansas City that has James MadBull, Thomas Rising Cloud and Mary PrettyFeather as children of Canoin. I'm still looking for info on all the people I just mentioned. I worked with a guy from Greece when I lived in Henderson N.V. whenever we would lift something heavy he would say some thing that sounded like (hab a ditch).

rickgerlach: try the Yankton reservation censuses. I am fairly certain that that was where Struck by the Reee was affiliated. he and his other wife mazaitzashanawi were baptized by Father DeSmet on July 6, 1866. Ref: Crittendoen > DeSmet, IV, page 1284Daughters: Tawanaspaskewin, and Padionopapi( 2nd wife of Honore Picotte) were two of his daughters. were

Name: Struck By Ree [Palani Spapi] Date of Birth: abt 1803 Age: 89 Gender: Female Relation to Head of Household: Mother
Tribe: Sioux
Agency: Pine Ridge State: South Dakota
Last Census Number: 5478
Census Date: 1892
Household Members: Name Age Struck By Ree 89 Jennie 16 Lucy 14 Oscar 10
As you can see Struck By Ree, listed here with these 3 Ree children, could not have been Old Struck's daughter. He was born abt 1801 and here she is born 1803. So I am assuming as Fr. Madlon's tree suggests this is his sister.
Feed back is welcome. Thank you.

Hello i am doing research on my mother Doris Katherine REE/St. John Her father is Hosea REE SR. son of Phillip REE from Yankton Sioux Tribe decedent of Chief Struck By The Ree. i have been going through alot of paper work to find the chain link to our ancestor. i did try the yankton sioux tribal enrollment and the BIA but seem they do not have any information on to who the father and mother are of Phillip REE. went over what is in my mother's Probate but also not much information provided. i also look up on census records them are confusing as some show a person is the child then when looking on another would say sister or wife same with the male side of it. looking for any suggestions on where to find accurate information any help is greatly appreciated. this is my first time doing all this.
