Hermin1 I have a lot of it in direct line but there is a lot I don't have and I am trying to fill in. I just two weeks ago heard mabel Arconge was Russell Means grandmother. The main place I am having trouble is with the older Yellow Clouds. I heard that when Dorothy died in 1945 her family came to Soldier Creek and got her body to bury in Greenwood but I have not found her. Thanks for all your help

Since posting the above i received more info. I talked to a Mr. Dickson that has a probate on Poor. Poor is a brother of Yellow Cloud. Some of the other brothers and sisters are Brave provincial, he also shows up on LDS as the son of Sunknape Provincial and Come Stand. On his papers Sunknape is Dog Hand. Than there are Uses Her Knife {Alice}, Good Buffalo Horn, Hurry Little Tail and Her Horse. I have not seen this probate but am suppose to get a copy. Come Stand died in 1914. Sunknape in 1878. There is more and i will add and correct as i get it.

I send the following email this morning to heritagecenter@sintegleska.edu . I want to post it here in case anyone can help. Hello, I am trying to research Marpitya-zi {Yellow Cloud} I have him as a Sicangu and have a picture of him in 1887 with George Stead, Chief Elk Teeth, Otterman, Horn, One Wood, With Horns, Grey Eagle-Tail, Fast Dog, Turning Eagle, Pulls the Arrow Out, and James Kills Plenty in Cut Meat. Does that give any ideas to what censuses before 1900 I am hunting for? I am lost. I am trying to find more on him, his wife Ska, and his mother Come Stand. I did find a Come Stand married to a Sunknape Provincial on LDS. I hope you can give me an idea on where to look next. My wife is his great granddaughter Her mother is Matilda and her grand father Samuel. Her and our sons are enrolled at the Rosesbud. This tree is to share with all the Yellow Cloud- Provincial family.
Thanks, Ray Henry.

If ever any one runs across Dorothy Arconge - Dorothy Schmidt- Dorothy Arconge Schmidt I really need it. I have her on the 1920 census as 17. Than she shows up married to Samuel Phillips {Yellow Cloud} Provincial on the Rosebud as Dorothy Arconge Schmidt. She died in 1939. I have been to the Rosebud and talked to a lot of the family. Some say she is buried at Soldier Creek. Some say she was taken by her family back to Grenwood. Other than that I can find nothing on her except in the 1920's she had at least two more children and they use the last name Schmidt. I have read ever census, been to the Rosebud 4 time , Talked to everyone I could find in the family, nothing. She has a Rosebud number along wirh her parents Theodule Arconge and Anne Bordeaux. Yet everything on them is Yankton. I am over looking something. Thanks, Ray

Just a thought. Perhaps the grandparents of this woman were yankton. I know most of the brugier line would be yankton. they descend from chief war eagle (yankton). the family probably moved to rosebud and traded allotments or were able to get allotments through inheritance or purchase. There is always the possibility of adoption or extended families.

Thanks jackie, I know that she was 17on 1920 census. I know that she was born in 1903 from Rosebud print out. I just can't figure out where she was those other 29 years before marring Sam. I think that someone else raised her. But where she got the two Schmidt children and the name Schmidt, is running me nuts.I know she is a real person becauseI married her grand daughter and have a picture of her in 1936.

Thanks Hermin1, I never thought of that. I will try that road. On some of the early 1900 census it shows Theodule and Anne Arconge having a daughter minnie born in 1903. { Dorothy's year of birth} but i am finding Minnie at different years and places so she does not seem to be Dorothy. I never was good at [ chasing women]
