Hello Brule Dude, I found several things on the Arconge family today on www.dogpile.comclick advanced search in exact phrase box type Moses Arconge I think they are part of the Yankton, one of the things I found was this.... Moses Arconge Biography, Charles Mix County, SD This biography is taken from the "Standard Atlas of Charles Mix County (1906)", published by Geo. A. Ogle & Co. Page 54 Transcribed by Joy Fisher, jfisher@ucla.edu and may be copied for non-profit purposes. All other rights reserved. Moses Arconge had arrived at about the same time as Rouse and Bonnin. He used to haul wood on Papineau bottom and elsewhere, but did not engage in any particular line of business. He was the grandfather of Theo Arconge, the mixed blood liveryman at Greenwood. Hope this helps, Sara

Robert Dickson (Mascotapah or "Red-Hair Man"): (abt.1768 - 1823) He was the oldest son of John Dickson & Helen Wight, born at Dumfries, Scotland. Robert's wife was Helen or Totowin (daughter of Chief Wanoti & sister of Nakota Chief Red Thunder) and their children were: William (b.1798/1801)(m.1st.to a part Ojibwe woman & 2nd. to a Yankton woman), Helen (Ellen) (1808-1884)(m.1st.to Joseph R.Brown & 2nd. to Moses Arconge, Thomas (1812-abt.1833) & Mary (Marie) (b.1814)(m.to Henry Ange). Robert and his brothers (William & Thomas) were brought to North America to assist there cousin, Robert Hamilton, with his British government contracts & the fur trade. He was employed by the British Indian Department at Mackinac Is. in the 1780's which allowed him to become acquainted with the trade in the Upper Mississippi. By the beginning of the War of 1812 he was one of the most influential traders in that region. During the war he was placed in charge or the British Indian Department for the Western Tribes, due to his influence in the area of the Great Lakes and to the west. He died at Drummond Is. on the 20th of June in 1823. BACK TO MAIN PAGE

Bruledude, If you would like to have the Yankton Sioux Census records from 1895-1921, I could send you a copy. This ought to give you a better idea of who was on the reservation during this time. By the way, it was good to see you at the meeting on Sunday at Marty, SZ.
