David Wells has many names.
Hachinwakanda=Lightning Blanket
Wichunkpeduta=Red Star.
What's the correct translation for the sioux name

In The Book "Through Dakota Eyes". David Wells married the youngest widow of Little Crow. In the book her name is "Manikiyahewin". This Birch Cooley census record has what appears to be her, except with a slightly different spelling.
& also what is the translation for her name?
Manikiyahewin = ?

You are mis-reading the handwriting.
David Wells Indian name is Tasinawakanhdi
ta = his; sina = robe, blanket, wakanhdi = lighting.

Ok, I see. I also noticed that "Lightning Blanket's Account", in the book "Through Dakota Eyes". Has a very different spelling of the sioux name for "Lightning Blanket". In the book it is spelled. "Hachinwakanda". I don't know how the "H" got in there if blanket is with a "T" as in "Tasina".
Even "Red Star" is spelled differently in the book. Wicanpiduta "Red Star", would be much more updated, & new age. In the book it is "Wichunkpeduta".
Still have no proper translation for the wife of David Wells. Manikiyahewin.
I did'nt catch the errors.

Manikiya means- to cause to walk
win, of course, is- woman
he- has many meanings, one of which is "hill" specifically the Coteau des prairies, also I found "that" and "horn".
