try typing his name in the Google Seaarch box. I am wondering if he was an Ojibway chief. Try typing in Ojibway Indian Chiefs al;so go to www.accessgenealogy.com and check out their native american Genealogy link. i think they have a section there on Indian Chiefs, also the Ojibways. here is a web site which talks about his biography from Charles Eastman's book: www.kstrom.net/isk/stories/holeday.html

Dawn: the name of the Tribe is Ojibwe. Here is a web site re. the Hole in the Day woodbury genealogy: www.ojibwe.info/gendat/nms_473.htmlAlso there were 2 Chiefs named Hole In the Day. The Father died in 1846 and was succeeded by his son of the same name. the father was recognized asa chief by the United States Govt. forhis bravery and loyalty to the Americans during the War of 1812, but he did not become a chief ofhis people until 1825, on the death of Chief Curly Head.
