Hello,

I am looking for info on Rev. William Holmes born in 1861, he died 1929 and is buried in the Catholic cemetary, his mother is Wicanpiotawin who died at Ft Ridegely 1861. It is said Williams father is Marshall Holmes. At Santee they have Rev. Williams Holmes as Full Blood. William wed Rebecca Hobbs.

I am looking for info on Marshall Holmes and Wicanhpiotawin specifically.

I sent you a 1900 Santee Census page District 111 that lists William as 1/2 Native American and his father as being from England.

Itemazawin was the first wife of Kahboke. One of her children was Mahpiyaswinohca, who died leaving a daughter Zitkadantowin.

Zitkadantowin had two children before she died:
Wicanhpiotawin who died in 1867 leaving a son William
Holmes, who became a minister.
Wasukadata who died single, without issue.

The Santee Register Book 1 on page 149 lists: William Holmes
married Jan. 15,1880 at Santee.
He was born at Ft. Ridgley,MN on Dec. 31, 1861, and baptized at
Mendota in 1863 by the Rev. S.D. Hinman.
William's parents are listed as Marshall Holmes(born in England)
and Wicanrpiotawin.
Williams's spouse is listed as Rebecca Frost(nee Hobbs), born
Dec. 15, 1861 at Dectur, NE and Baptized apr. 16, 1865 by
Rev. Algernon Batte. Her parents were Lorenzo Hobbs and
Mary M. Hobbs.

I don't have anything on Marshall Holmes other than what I found in the Santee Register, Book1.
