Does anyone have any information on Tasinahotewin? She was married to Francois/Frank Langer. I would appreciate any and all information. Thank you!

it would help us if you would first tell us what information you do have, and what sources you yourself have checked in searching for this person.

Hermin, this is what I have. In Rootsweb I found under Langer a Francois Langer who was married to Unknown Tasinahotewin. One of their sons was a Louis Langer (Sr in later yrs). I also received a Family tree on Edouard Langer from (pardon my French) La Societe historique de Satin-Boniface, in Manitoba, that states Edouard's father as Francois Langer and his mother as a Sioux woman, given the name of Marguerite George. So with that I am curious to see if this lady has anything in common with Tasinahotewin. Any suggestions, ideas??? Anyone???

I have not seen this tree you speak of. What information do you have on this Margaret George? I would suggest you do a search on this Mrgaret George and see what you come up with.If she were a full blood Indian(most possibly a Cree) then she should have anIndian name as well, unless as I am assuming, her father was not Indian, in which case she is a Mixed blood or Metis. Which would rule out any connection to Tasinahotewin who had to have beena full blood, since she does not have an English Name. The information you have from rootsweb is what I have, other than that her name translates to Her Grey Robe (or Shawl) Woman. The other information I have is that there is in the records, also a Tasinahotewin that was living in North Dakota, a Martha Tasinahotewin, Tasinahotewin, born in MN, who was married to James Redwing., and a Tasinahotewin that died and is buried at Church Hill(or Hill Church Cemetery) in South Dakota. In what way are you related to Francois Langer and/or his son Louis and/or this Eduord?

There is a book about amos one road who is the son of Tasinahotewin who was the sister of Lowing Bull and who also had a sister by the name of Good Feather Women . She is also named Sheppard. Martha was her first name. I know the renvilles are involved sarah renville for one I just got to skim through it didnt have the 39.00 to buy it. Also I have a thought Sitting Bulls name was slow bull before his father gave him his name Sitting Bull and he also had a sister named Grey shawl women tasinahotewin and a sister named Good Feather women hum Scararm

Scararm: that is very interesting. the Tasinahotewin that married Francois langer/Langie was a full blood Mdewakanton sioux.. I and her descendent have been unable to find any documetation for her marriage to Francois, any baptismal or birth record on her, other than the affidavit that Francois filed for the lake pepin Land Scrips. I have no doubt he was married more than once. the other information i can't find is where and when did francois langie/Langer die?His Tasinahotewin left him and their childrenor he separated from her. anyway, she remarried to another sioux, and they had a son that lived to age 20yrs but without issue. tashinahotewin died before the first land allotments were made(after the 1862 uprising). this tasinahotewin you mention, would make her no 5 in group of Tasinahotewin. It would help if you knew the title of this book you mention andthe page references.

I believe that Francois Longee/Longie/Langer (seen all spellings for this family) to be my 2nd great grandfather and his wife was listed as Tasinahotewin.. I was excited to see this thread. Gives some possibility of truth. This couple looks to be the parents to my great grandfather Frank Francis Longee/Longie/Langie who married Rosalie Valle (I don't have much of anything on her except a fort peck unalloyed number N5037). This couple is the parents to my grandmother Mary Clemence Longee who married Henry Azure of Standing Rock, the son of Nancy Nebraska. I would love to know anything about these families. Thank you.
