In search of the Trudell family today, I found something interesting. In the Santee Agency Baptismal Ledger, I found Charles Moose, born 1858 in Wabasha, MN, his parents were listed as Joseph Moose and Louise Trudell. I have no idea who this Trudell is. On the 1902 Santee census, Charles' parents are listed as Sunkto and Wasupetawin. On the 1910 federal census in Santee, Charles is listed with his mother, Nancy, and she is still living. This is very confusing. Charles married Fannie, and had several children, born in Santee. Can anybody shed some light on this?

Yes, that's him!
Ada Louise Trudell married Bert June McMillin and had only 1 child, Robert McMillin, born about 1920. Robert married a woman named Winona, can't remember the last name (I'm not at home, so can't look it up), they had a son and daughter, both born in Traverse City, MI. Ada died in Traverse City, MI (my home town). But this can't be the Louise on the Baptismal ledger. In order for Louise Trudell to be the mother of Charles Moose, she would have been born about 1840, give or take.

I also have aJoseph Moose, one of the children of Tawicakesni (parents unknown).Joseph's siblings were John Moose and Winyanska. Joseph's spouse N/a, but they had 4 children: Jennie Moose(now White), Charles Moose, Joseph Moose, and Esther Moose. His brother John had a daughter Elizabeth Moose(now thomas), and their sister Winyanska had a daughter Mary Sakawin, who married John Jones. Edith Casaday has the Tree from which this information came from. You can contact her at Matriarch42@aol.com and ask her to send you the tree.

I found the same 1910 Census data you did,Jimmy. Is it possible that this louise also went by Nancy? It certainly seems possible. We have already shown that August Trudell's first wife went by Nancy and Louise, not to mention Henry Trudell's wife who went by Nancy and Lucy. It seems strange, but some names just go together. For example you would often find Polly as a nickname for Mary during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Jimmy: guess who I found in the Santee Agency Baptismal Recoirds this morning? Louise Trudell on pages 891-892, near bottom of the page. she was baptized at Wabasha ,MN in 1862,and was born at Winona,MN in 1831. No parents listed. Rwev. John P. Williamson baptized her. No record of whan she died. I wonder if this could be your Loouise Trudelll you were wondering about>

This Louise Trudell is Louise Nancy Winona, 1st wife of August Trudell, and mother of Frank Trudell who married Emma Deman. (At least I think that is who it is, since she is on the same page as Frank, and his mother is listed as Louise). The birth date is problematic however, as her husband, August Trudell, wasn't born until about 1849, making her quite a bit older. Then later, I find Frank Trudell's mother on other records with a much later birth date, about 1849.
