I have run across the site in the past but I spook easy! anpahotanna tanka!!! (Big chicken!) McLaughlin is a rez town and is named after james mclaughlin. I think there was something on that site about the Alex Johnson here in Rapid City... lots of spooky places ( I am sensing a halloween/history theme )

Hi, I live in McLaughlin but don't know which house belonged to Major James McLaughlin. However, there is a library named after him, lots of interesting books esp. about him. I did read one of them. I found two of my GGrandfather's mentioned in his book. McLaughlin is no spookier than other rez towns. Lots of teen suicides. derockbraine1

lol I understand. I thought that about some of the other places mentioned in the website. I doubt that McLaughlin is haunted as a whole and I know people have told me that their relatives have lived there for years. Everytown has a potentially haunted house or place. On the Sisseton Reservation, sometimes people say there is an eerie light seen at the old Presbyterian Church. They also say the old jail is haunted. Lots and lots of stories actually. My thinking is that when it comes to wanagis, there is much more to be considered than just a haunted house type thing!! lol Some are those that were unable to make their journey. But I do think that wanagis are unstable and one doesnt know what to expect. Me, I have healthy respect for the things I do not understand, and do not mess with things that could injure anyone. I have no desire to mess with wanagis!! -see the halloween theme?? LOL

Tamara Thanks for that "Rice County" post, we will be adding it to our family book, just another story of the Loyality of "Old Bet's" Family, it was even carried on by her nephew. The Joseph Ironshield written about in your Rice County Jornual posting is the son of "Hinhdaku" (He Who Is Coming) and he is a brother of "Old Bet's". Wapate
