we are looking for information on Albert Redday (Manikiya) or his father Jonah Redday (Anpetuxa)...where were they born, are there baptismal records and where canw e find them. The family also believes they have ties to Mary PayPay (on the census) who were her parents and where can we gather that information?

PeaceKeeper:
I found this on Mary Pay Pay.
"taz5150nd wrote in the “Re: Looking for Stella Redday Family information” thread,
Thank you. We do have all of that information. As to the date and place of Albert's birth we are still trying to locate that information. The BIA in Sisseton was not very helpful when I called about his probate. We know Albert's father was Jonah RedDay (Apetuxa) and we also know the family has lineage to Mary Pay Pay. does anyone have anything with her ties? She is on the census. and does anyone know if her real name was Mazakoyakewin?"

i believe I posted some information on albert Redday, ormaybe I dreamed it. There are Reddays still living in Minnesota. And there are oodles of Redays in SD especially in roberts, Dumarce, and Marshall counties, in re. to census records. Mary paypay aka Tasinatopawin was married toRev. George Paypay. She was his 5th spouse. He was a minister. They were married at Santee. I know of no connections between her and the Reddays. If you're looking for her probate, you went to the wrong place. Try Winnebago BIA office, because that is where George was Allotted. He died at White Horse which is in Dewey County,SD in 1892. Mary died before George. He then married his last spouse Carrie Two Lance, I believe at White Horse,Dewey ,SD. Mary adopted the son of Bozawin(she died in 1871). However,I can't find any baptismal /birth record for him. I suspect that Mary was somewhow related to her, although I have no documentation to support this.I am basing my ssumption on the tribal custom wherein an orphan was usually adopted by an older relative fo the deceased mother. I also can't find any birth/baptismal record for George paypay., which is strange. I would assume that being a minister, he had to have been baptized before being ordained.

Thank you for that information. I agree it is VERY strange that there are no records for George. Our family is 99% sure that they are related to Mary Paypay because there is probate documents that we have which indicates that she is a direct relation. If I can find a scanner this weekend I will send what we have to you and perhaps you can dig deeper then we have been able to. On last thing...most of our families documentation even in DC has dissappeared...funny how you should say that about George, it's what we've been running into from the beginning...We have probates but no other documentation convenient don't ya think?

eunice redday wilson is albert redday's daughter. she married hazen or titus wilson who is the grandson of mary paypay. probate for moses redday eunice's brother states she was married to titus, but everything else states hazen.

good information, thanks. now hazen and titus are the children of Daniel Wilson and a woman named Julia. That is where I was lost as I had heard Julia was the daughter of Mary PayPay. -but not that Julia! The Julia that was her daughter later married Titus White or Paska. I am also told that there are actually 3 Mary PayPays. What is the indian name of the mother of the Wilson children? is it Tasinatopawin, wife of George PayPay? The Elrod Roll says #51 Pay-Pay (George) a. Wy-hien, widow b. Daniel, son c. James, son d. George, son (dead) e. Winona, daughter (this must be Julia Wilson)

Is this Mary PayPay, the grandmother of the Wilsons, named Tasinatopawin? or what is her name? Do you have any information on this line about Julia Wilson? I thought someone said that Julia Wilson was said by George PayPay to have been his daughter and that she was born in Davenport to a woman who was married at the time to another man who committed suicide after attempting to take her life. Seems I saw her name in the Flandrue book as well. But this wouldnt be Mary Pay Pay then would it? Tamara

wow tamara...you have some good information. Where did you get all of it and can I get a copy of all that you have on her? I have a friend with the Mormon church. This information would be very helpful to him and his associates. They are doing all the can for our family. It is my understanding that the Mornon Church has a family tree on ALL Native Americans with supporting documentation. I have given him all that our family has and they are getting closer. What you have may help us in a great way or it could crash the plane. Lets roll the dice and see what we come up with.
