Could I take a minute here to clarify for others searching (myself included -for another family) the Louis Dumarce Prescott family. I understand the adoption of Louis Dumarce by Mrs Prescott and see him as the son of Francois Dumarce or Demars deceased in one of the rolls. Are there two Francois Dumarces? The Francois Dumarce who was born approximately 1820 is the furthest back I have seen and currently need to see, but who are his children? Who isis the Mary or Margaret that shows as a wife? Is John B Dumarce or Baptiste Dumarce the same person and is he the son of Francios?
Thanks so much ... just trying to get "up to speed"! lol

Everything is fine until you mention that darn 1886 Mdewakanton Census which doesn't exist. The Census was actually done in 1885 and was not dated. Plus Margaret tried to sign up for annuity also as Maggie prescott on that 1885 Enrollment Census, and the BIA agent caught the error, but Kaardal and Buttes were too stupid to catch it. they included on that cnensus with both surnames-Dumarce and Prescott. The 1850 us Census for Dakota territory lists Francois Dumarce age 46, as head, wife Louisa , and children: Rosalie,Francois(Jr),Alexis, Baptiste, and Genencella(sp). apparently Louis hadn't been born yet.
John Baptiste dumarce is also on that same Census at Age 50, with wife (can't make out her name), and children: John Baptiste Dumarce, Dominique Dumarce, and Carolina Dumarce
